Enhanced Fast Return to LTE

Improved Smart phone User experience with increased success in return to LTE

Benefits for the operator

• Improved QoS for users returning to LTE service area

Feature description
• Currently, Fast Return to LTE is performed for all LTE Handsets in a
Cell where the feature is activated, despite the possibly of a missing
4G Subscription or lack of LTE Coverage
• This feature triggers Fast Return to LTE only for CSFB Calls,
identified from CSFB indication in the Clear Command (see
message flow picture)
• The existence of LTE coverage can be estimated from the Rx Level
measured from the serving GSM Cell with a configurable threshold

mcBSC fallback activation in one single step

Reduced RNW and system recovery time during mcBSC SW management

Benefits for the operator

ETME and ETMA functional units automatically
• Simplified software management operation to reduce RNW and restarted to load the correct SW
mcBSC system recovery time.

Feature description
• This feature optimizes software fallback activation mechanism for
mcBSC. ETME and ETMA functional units are automatically restarted
during software management scenarios where the software
package is changed with a system restart. The software package
activation is now performed in one single step. mcBSC
