SECTION 1 :

GENERAL
SPECIFICATIONS
1.0 INTENT OF SPECIFICATION

1.1. This specification is intended to cover the design, engineering, manufacture,


fabrication, and assembly, testing at manufacturer’s works, delivery, properly
packed for transport of High pressure feed water heater (HP Heater).
1.2. Any additional equipment, material & services which are not specifically mentioned
herein, and which are required to make the package complete in every respect in
accordance with the technical specification and for safe operation and guaranteed
performance, shall be deemed to be covered under the scope of this specification.

2.0 SCOPE OF SUPPLY

2.1. 1 No. Shell & Tube type High pressure feed water heater complete with Inlet, Outlet
& Drain
Nozzles.

2.2. Suitably designed supports with Foundation Bolts.


2.3. Following minimum accessories shall be supplied with HP heater:
2.3.1 Shell Relief valve – one No.
2.3.2 Channel relief valve – One No.
2.3.3 Shell drain, vent connections with valves
2.3.4 Channel drain, vent connections with valves
2.3.5 Level gauge with isolation valves - One No.
2.3.6 High level switch with isolation valves - One No.
2.3.7 High High level switch with isolation valves - One No.
2.3.8 Low level switch with isolation valves - One No.
2.3.9 Low Low level switch with isolation valves - One No.
2.3.10 Level transmitter – One No.
2.3.11 Stand pipe with isolation valves, drain, and vent valves- 2 no’s.
2.3.12 Companion flanges at terminal points.
2.3.13 Pressure and temperature gauges on shell side – One No each
2.3.14 Required insulation shall be provided for HP Heater.
2.3.15 Foundation bolts / Teflon sheet as required.

3.0 DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION REQUIREMENT:

3.1 Heater shall be provided with start up vent connection that will be separate from vent
connection required for continuous operation.

3.2 Corrosion allowance of 3.2 mm to be maintained on shell and tube side (other than tube).

3.3 The shell shall be seamless.


3.4 Tube to tube sheet joint will be roller expanded only. Welded tubes are not
acceptable. U tubes shall consist of one continuous bent tube; U tubes welded at bends are
not acceptable.
3.5 Minimum tube wall thickness of stainless steel tubes shall be determined by
Standards and codes, but in no case tube wall shall be less than 18 BWG before bending.
3.6 HP heater shall be designed & approved as per IBR requirement & necessary
certificates to be submitted along with equipment.

4.0 INSPECTION & TESTING

Vendor shall carryout all tests as indicated in the approved QAP. Successful completion of
testing at shop, however shall not absolve the vendor of his responsibilities of
equipment performance, material defects etc at site & during operation.

5.0 DOCUMENTATION

5.1 Following drawings & documents shall be furnished in 6 sets after the placement of
order: -

A) For Approval:
1. General Arrangement Drawing indicating all dimensions, Loading data,
Pedestal
Details, Mounting, Nozzle dimensions & details.
2. QAP
C) For Record:
1. Operation & Maintenance Manuals
2. Material Test Certificates
3. Pressure test certificates

6.0 NOTES
6.1 Flanges on steam side shall be WNRF.

6.2 Deviations if any to this specification shall be furnished for approval in pre-order
stage.
