Macbeth’s Final Say (Individual Piece)

• Develop  a  closing  statement  for  the  Macbeth  trail  -‐  pick  a  side!  You  are  either  part  of  the
defence  or  part  of  the  prosecution.
• This  is  a  written  assignment  that  will  be  completed  in  class  in  paragraph  form.
• This  is  your  last  attempt  to  persuade  the  jury.  You  should  string  together  all  of  your  evidence
and  present  it  in  a  strong,  fluid  and  persuasive  manner.
• Like  a  conclusion,  your  closing  statement  should  present  a  summary  of  your  argument.

Follow  this  checklist  in  order  to  complete  your  closing  statement:
o    I  have  followed  the  structure  of  a  3  part  argument
Ø Beginning    (Initial  conflict  –  what  you’re  arguing  about)
Ø Middle    (Why  you  think  Macbeth  should  be  guilty  or  not  guilty)
Ø End    (Your  evidence)
o    I  have  used  a  minimum  of  3  pieces  of  proof  from  Shakespeare’s  Macbeth  to
             follow-‐through  with  my  argument
o    I  have  used  a  minimum  of  5  adjectives  to  enlighten  Macbeth’s  good  or  bad
             qualities
o    I  checked  my  spelling,  grammar  and  punctuation
