Monday 12/10: Today I continued to work on remaking my digital portfolio from a Google Site to a Weebly. I also made sure that I had all the necessary supplies to create my physical portfolio including a black binder, grey resume paper, and page protectors.
Tuesday 12/11: T oday drove to the Children’s Dallas Location to have a mentor visit with Dr. Reeder. I was able to sit in on a case study report that she did with the medical students at Children’s, on their only rotation at the Reach Clinic. I listened as Dr. Reeder asked the students various questions about what processes they would do if said patient was under their care. Her main goal was to stress that these emerging physicians keep child abuse on their differential diagnosis.
Wednesday 12/12: Today I printed out everything that I needed for my physical portfolio, as well as created title pages and divider pages. I made any necessary revisions to my work before putting it in the portfolio. I also put finishing touches on my digital portfolio, making sure that all the necessary documents were there.
Thursday 12/13: Today I brought my portfolio for review in class. I was happy with the way that it looked, and everything was professional. My mistakes included; no dividers, and a few things were out of the correct order.
Friday 12/14: T oday I took a necessary break from ISM work.
Saturday 12/15 & Sunday 12/16: Over the weekend I sent an email to Dr. Reeder regarding meeting for the following week. I also designed my winter research showcase invitations, sent them to the print shop, and picked them up. I purchased all the necessary supplies to complete my display board including the actual board, grey paint, decorative border paper, and white cardstock. I came home and painted my white foam board with light grey paint. Lastly, I prepared everything that I will print off and put on the board so that, when it is dried and ready, I can place everything on it.
Reflection: T his week I am very happy with the progress I made. I got to have another amazing mentor experience with Dr. Reeder and see what actual medical students learn from a child abuse standpoint. I also got to experience the Dallas location, which is very different from Plano in the sense that it is much bigger and the staff is much more expansive. I am also proud that I was able to create a portfolio showcasing everything I have done in only half a year, I was able to look back and have something to show for it. I am also glad I was able to get started on my display board because it means I am one step closer to winter showcase and I am able to let my creativity loose.
Action/Goals: ● Hand out my winter showcase invitations to my teachers ● Finish my display board and be ready to show it off
