Should Parents Pay Their Kids for Having a Good Grade?

____________________________________________________

All parents are hoping the best for their children. They will do anything for their children
happiness. Parents also express their appreciation towards their children in many ways. One of their form
of appreciations is by giving them money to appreciate their children effort for getting good grades in
school. However, is giving money as a reward for children necessary? Certainly, no, this method is not
effective for educating children.

Studying is children responsibility as students. Instead of giving children money every time they
get good grades, parents should make them realize that education is important. Parents should be able to
show them the consequences of them for not studying. It is also the parents’ duty for teaching their
children responsibility, including children’s responsibility for studying.

Money is not everything for children. By giving children money every time they get good grades,
parents are teaching them that money is everything. That is a wrong practise. Sure some children are lack
of motivation and paying them might boost their motivation. However, this practise will make them even
lazier because if there are no “reward” they would’t bother doing nothing.

Parents put too many burden for children when they pay out money for good grades. Each child
has different capability in academics. When parents force their children to be good at school by giving
them some amount of money, it might lead them to be a dishonest student. Children will think that getting
bad grades means punishment because they will not get any money. They will do anything to get good
grades in instant way for example cheating and that is not the way that parents want their children to do.
Parents spent money even before they were born and are spending more until they graduate.

There are a lot of parents who give money to their children. They think that giving money to their
child can make the children happy. Yeah it’s true. Children will be motivated to study because with study
they will get money. But I think giving money to the children is not a good way to educate the children.
Giving money to a children will make the children become a materialistic person. I really disagree if
parents should pay their children with money as a reward.

Grades are important but effort and process is more important. Studying is a process of learning
and error is a part of learning. Parents should make their children understand that the most important
thing of their study is their progress. Therefore, their children will put more effort for their study to get
better and better because they want to get progression. Giving them rewards is acceptable as long as it
act as appreciation for their effort and not their grades. Parents can appreciate their children in many
ways, not only by giving them money, for example taking them to Disneyland or buying them new pair
of shoes.
