First article

Primary Ideas
1. Unfavourable cardiovascular risk profiles are found in youth with low levels of
cardiovascular fitness and high percentage of body fat.
2. High aerobic fitness is associated with a reduction in risk factors related to
cardiovascular diseases. VO2max is a measure of the functional limit of cardio
respiratory system and single most valid index of maximal exercise capacity.
3. Measurements of body weight (anthropometry) are used to reflect body fat in
clinical settings as these measurements provide rapid and cheap way to
estimate body fat.
Second Article

Primary Ideas
1. Inhalation of nebulized furosemide has been shown to have a positive effect in
healthy and sick patients (COPD ...) since it relieves dyspnea caused by
exercise, compared to the relief provided by 0.9% saline solution.
2. The prevalence of adults with respiratory problems such as dyspnea is 10%,
these difficulties limit patients to perform activities of daily living. For this
reason, it was proposed to use nebulized furosemide with other conventional
methods to reduce that percentage.
3. The nebulized furosemide also acts on the nervous system and causes
changes in the activity of lung stretch receptors, which provide information on
the expansion of the lung through the vagus nerve, altering vagal pulmonary
afferent activity thus relieving dyspnea.
Third Article

Primary Ideas
1. Planar perfusion scintigraphy with albumin is used for pretreatment
quantification of pulmonary perfusion in patients with lung cancer
2. We have introduced new three-dimensional methods that use special software
for planar grammagraphy
3. For the quantification of the perfusion and ventilation of the lobes of the left lung
with people of lung cancer presents an inclination and condensation depending
on the lung that is more affected, where the difference is 2.0% for ventilation
4. It is important to determine and classify when using three-dimensional software
methods with respect to flat grammagraphy
Fourth Article
Primary Ideas
1. Quantify regional pulmonary ventilation in healthy volunteers and patients
with severe asthma (both before and after thermoplasty) by using a
combination of helium (He)
2. Magnetic resonance imaging (MR) and computed tomography (CT) imaging
will be used, with the intention of developing more effective image-guided
treatments for obstructive lung diseases.
3. MRI image of hyperpolarized gas can be used to quantify segments of
ventilation defects before and after the therapies
4. The procedure that is done to the patient is a bronchoscopy and the
application of radio frequency (RF) heating. Smooth muscle tissue ablation
in this way reduces exacerbations and increases the quality of life in a
clinically and statistically significant way.
5. Bronchial thermoplasty tests that were performed on patients showed better
results.

Fifth article

Primary Ideas

1. The rates of chest compressions (CC) and ventilations are both

important metrics to control the quality of cardiopulmonary resuscitation
(CPR).

2. Capnography allows ventilation to be controlled, but DCs provided

during CPR corrupt the capnogram and compromise the accuracy of
automatic ventilation detectors.

3. The objective of this study was to evaluate the feasibility of an automatic

algorithm based on the capnogram to detect ventilations and provide
feedback on the rate of ventilation during CPR, specifically addressing
the intervals where CCs are administered.
