Time 8.10 - 9.10 Class 4 Vaiduriyam Subject Science


Learning area Introduction to science Topic 3. Life Processes In Humans

Content Standard 3.2 Excretion and defecation.


Learning Standard 3.2.1 State the meaning of excretion through observations using various media.
3.2.2 Identify excretory organs and its products :
kidneys excrete urine
skin excretes sweat
lungs excrete carbon dioxide and water vapour
Learning Objective Students will be able to identify the parts of the excretory organs. Students will be able to
describe the functions of each part of the excretory organs.
Success Criteria  Pupils able to describe the process of excretion.
 Pupils able to list down excretory organs
 Pupils able sketch and label excretory organs

Activity 1. Pupils run few rounds around the classroom and observe what happen to their body
skin. (Skin excretes sweat). Then guess why sweat coming out from our skin.
2. Pupils write what they know and do not know about excretion system.
3. Pupils guess what are organs involved in human excretion system.
4. Pupils watch a video about human excretion process and explain the process.
5. Teacher explain excretory system is the part of the body that removes waste
products. Explain that the urinary system is one part of our body’s excretory system.
6. Pupils explain what is the purpose of the excretory system and what happen if it not
function well ?(KBAT)
7. Pupil’s in-group sketch the excretion system and label the organs.
8. Pupils present their work in class. Others groups give comments and do correction if
necessary. (Collaborative).
9. Teacher give rewards to group that perform well. (reward chart)
10. Pupils do exercise in the given worksheets. Teacher guide and check pupil’s answer
11. Pupils will continue with extra questions after finish the worksheet. (anchor activity)
12. Teacher rotate around the classroom and assist struggling students. Pair struggling
students with students who have a strong understanding of the concepts presented.
13. Teacher recall back today’s lesson
