Ritu Varma is an Indian film
actress from Telangana who
mainly works in Telugu cinema
and Tamil cinema. She is best
known for her performance in
the short film Anukokunda and
the movie Pelli Choopulu, which
elevated her into overnight
fame.

The short film won the Best Film

award at the 48HR Film Project
competition in 2012 and also
fetched Ritu the Best Actor
(Female) award. The short film
was later screened at the
Cannes Short Film Corner in
2013.
After entering the film industry
as a lead, she went on to bag
the lead role in the movie
Pellichoopulu. The film was
released worldwide on 29 July
2016 to positive reviews from
critics and received critical and
commercial success. The film
provided breakthrough for the
film's cast and crew.

The film won two National Film

Awards for Best Telugu film, and
Best Screenplay – Dialogues,
two Filmfare Awards, and the
SIIMA Award for Best Film,
while Ritu bagged the Filmfare
and the Nandi award for her
performance.
