SECTION – III REASONING

SOLUTIONS FOR QUESTIONS (Q.46 TO Q.50):

46. (B) If C is in the group then P must be there therefore options (A) and (C) are ruled
out. More over if P is there in the group then D must be there; hence, option (D) is
also ruled out. Hence, the required answer is option (B).

47. (C) If C is in the group then P must be there therefore option (B) is ruled out. P and
B must be together therefore, option (A) is ruled out. More over if C is there in the
group then D must not be there; hence, option (D) is also ruled out. Hence, the
required answer is option (C).

48. (D) Option (A): If Q and P are in the group then due to Q we must take C and due to
P, we must take D. But now due to C we must take P, which makes the group more
than D surety. Hence option A is ruled out.
Option B: If a group of D have B women then they must be Q and P then due to Q
we must take C. More over if C is there in the group then D must not be there. If D
is not there then P is not there. Now we have C people in the group and we need
one more, which is not possible as P and B always come together. Hence option B
is ruled out.
Option C: If we have D men in the group of D then we must take B and E because
excluding then we will be left with C men only, as they come together only. But if B
is there then P cannot be there. Now we need B more men and only B men are left
out C and D and we cannot select both of them because when C is there D is not
there. Hence option C is also ruled out. Hence the required answer is option (D)

49. (B) STATEMENT I: If Q is in the group then due to Q we must take C. But now due
to C we must take P and we cannot take D. But if D is not there P is also not there.
Now we have C people in the group and we need one more, which is not possible as
P and B always come together. Hence statement A cannot form feasible group.
STATEMENT B: If P is in the group then due to P we must take D and cannot take
B. If B is not there then E is also not possible. More over due to D we cannot take
C. Since C cannot be taken we can not taken Q. Now we have B people in the group
and we need B more, and we are left with P only. Hence statement B cannot form
feasible group.
STATEMENT C: If D is selected then C has to be excluded and exclusion of C will
lead to exclusion of Q. Now we need to select C out of D remaining. Hence we must
take B and E as they come together. But if B is there, then P has to be excluded
therefore only P can be the fourth member. Option C will form a feasible group in a
unique manner i.e. D, E, B and P. Therefore only option C forms a feasible group.

50. (B) If P is in the group then due to P we must take D and cannot take B. If B is not
there then E is also not possible. More over due to D we cannot take C. Since C
cannot be taken we cannot take Q. Now we have B people in the group and we need
B more, and we are left with P only. Hence only one feasible group of three can be
formed and the members of the group will be P, D and P.

51. (B) The pattern in the series is A + 0 = B + 1 = D, B + 1 = D + 2 = G, D + 2 = G + 3 =

K, following the same pattern we get K + 4 = P + 5 = V. Hence, the correct term is
KPV.

52. (D) The first letter of the word is shifted one place every time, the second letter is
same i.e. L, the first letter of the word is shifted one place every time and the last
letter is A in every word. Hence, the missing term will be KLLA.

53. (B) Each term is divided by 2 and then consecutive natural numbers are added
starting from 1; 664/2 = 332 +1 = 333; 333/2 = 166.5 + 2 = 168.5 similarly,
47.625 / 2 = 23.8125 + 5 =28.8125.

54. (A) The difference between two consecutive terms is the sum of the digits of the
previous term. Now, 2+1+9 = 231.

SOLUTIONS FOR QUESTIONS (Q.55 TO Q.59): Let us draw table from the given
information
Lecturers Lectures Days
A H 1/ 2
B I 2/1
C J/K 3/4
D K/J 4/3
E L/M 5
F M/L 6
G N 7

55. (C) From above table A, B can be allotted any day from 1 or 2 = 2 ways. Now C and
D can be allotted any one of the combination of J3 or K4, hence 2 ways will be
required by them also ad total number of ways to allot cars to F and G will be 2.
Now E and F can be allotted any one lecture from L or M = 2 ways. Therefore
required number of ways will be 2 × 2 × 2 = 8 ways.

56. (C) From above table and discussion in the above solution i.e. Q.16 the required
number of ways will be 1 × 2 × 2 = 4 ways.

57. (A) From above table, C and D can be allotted any one of the combination of J3 or
K4. But C is not taking lecture J, hence C will be K4 and D will be J3. Therefore C
will teach on 4th day.

58. (B) From above table, if H is taught on day 2 then A is H2 and B is I1. Its also given
that D did not took lecture on day 4 therefore D is J3 and C is K4 but still E and F
can be allotted any one lecture from L or M = 2 ways. So, the required answer = 2.

59. (B) From above table, If H is taught on day 1 then A is H1 and B is I2. Therefore
lecture I will be taken on day 2.

SOLUTIONS FOR QUESTIONS (Q.65 TO Q.69): Let us assume 6 people as Amar,

Akbar, Anthony, Zeenat, Parveen and Hema. Now according to given conditions
Anthony and AK are immediate next to Zeenat and Parveen is after one vacant
cottage to Anthony. Hence we must be able to place the following in 9 places.
Parveen _ Anthony Zeenat Akbar. But Amar should be second from end. More over
there should be no occupied cottage next to Parveen or Hema. Therefore there can
only be two possibilities. _ Amar Akbar Zeenat Anthony _ Parveen _ Hema or its
reverse.

65. (D) Statement V can be derived from Statement II and III.

66. (C) Amar, Anthony, Parveen, Hema can occupy cottages next to vacant cottage.
Hence require answer is 4.

67. (C) Since there can only be two possibilities. _Amar Akbar Zeenat Anthony _
Parveen _ Hema or its reverse. Hence statements I and III are correct. Statement II
is not correct as exactly 2 people Zeenat and Akbar will have immediate occupied
cottages on either side of them.

68. (A) Only Akbar and Zeenat are having immediate neighbours as occupied cottage
on both sides.

SOLUTIONS FOR QUESTIONS (Q.72 TO Q.75): In a regular octagon every interior

angle is 135, also the line HC is parallel to the line AB. Each angle FAE, FAG,
DAE etc. must be 180/8 = 22.5.

72. (C) The line HC is parallel to AB, thus CHA is 45. Hence, position of point C with
respect to H is North East.

73. (C) Now, HAE = 45 + 22.5 = 67.5. Hence, position of E with respect to A is 67.5
North of West.
74. (A) The lines AF and BE are parallel and perpendicular to EF. Thus, if BE is north

83. (D) Direct application of Principle I.

84. (B) The principle of assault makes it a requirement that the preparation must
cause another to apprehend. This means there must be an apprehension created in
the mind of another, if there is no apprehension; it is not a case of Assault. There is
no apprehension of any harm since the patient knew that some harm will be
caused to him and for which he already consented to.

85. (B) There is no evidence in the facts that any person was physically prevented from
going anywhere. B is the right answer.

86. (D) Rachel has neither the intention nor knowledge that her act will result in death.
She was absolutely clueless about the same, she is not liable. D is the right
answer.

87. (A) As per principle no.4, causing any bodily pain or injury with or without
intention or knowledge is called hurt. Hence, there is no requirement of intention in
causing hurt as per principle 4. A is the right answer.

88. (B) As per principle 5, she has not caused voluntary hurt because the principle
makes intention or knowledge as a requirement to make someone liable under the
same. Since there was no intention, no voluntary hurt has been caused.

89. (B) Since she had no intention, she is not liable.

90. (B) Only on the basis of principle no.1, which does not list out any exceptions, the

91. (B) Both principles jointly make any discrimination either generally or based on any
factors as mentioned in the principle illegal. Hence, B is the right answer.

92. (A) The principle no. 3 provides an exception where the state can discriminate
people for the upliftment of a class/caste as and when required. Hence, A is the
right answer.

93. (C) Direct Application of Principle III and facts.

94. (B) The principle says any agreement in restraint of marriage other than a minor is
void. This means if there is an agreement in restraint of marriage of a minor, the
same shall be valid. Hence, B is the right answer.

96. (A) It is a case of mere silence. For an act of misrepresentation, there must be a
wrong or incorrect suggestion. However, no suggestion has been made in the
present case. The seller is merely silent. That does not amount to any wrong in
itself.

97. (B) The principle talks about coercion as a ground to terminate the contract.
Coercion is an act of threat which is punishable under IPC. Here, the teacher has
threatened the student not to let him sit in the class. This threat of act (not letting
sit in class) is not punishable under IPC. Since it is not punishable under IPC, no
coercion has been committed and the contract cannot be terminated.

98. (D) The agreement is one of restraint of trade and profession. An agreement is in
restraint of trade when a person is prevented from carrying on a profession of his
free choice at any place of his choice. In the present case, the agreement is void.
Nothing can be claimed in a void agreement.

99. (B) It is not a wagering agreement as there is no mutual chance of winning or losing
and also there is a real interest involved in the happening or non happening of the
event. Hence, no wager. It is a valid contract.

100. (D) Both parties are under a mistake of fact as they both did not know that goods
are already lost or cast away before the date of agreement , this makes the entire
agreement void.

101. (C) Direct application of principle.

102. (C) The parties in the contract are not clear as to the subject matter and
specifications, hence, there is a mistake of fact on the part of both parties.

103. (B) Direct application of principle.

104. (A) The act of publication must be intentional. Publication is intentional when
either the maker of the statement intentionally lets the content know to another, or
creates a circumstance knowingly where in such content will come to the
knowledge of another by force or compulsion. Here, the letter has been drafted in
French, and the maker knowns that the other party does not know French, hence
he also knows that by doing so, the other party will have no option but to go to a
third person who knows French and who can then read it over to him. By doing so,
he has published the content and is liable for defamation.
