ABSTRACT
A mobile phone jammer is an instrument used to prevent cellular
phones from receiving signals from base stations. When used, the
jammer effectively disables cellular phones. These devices can be used
in practically any location, but are found primarily in places where a
phone call would be particularly disruptive because silence is expected.
The Mobile jammer works on the principle of radio jammer. A radio
jammer is any device that deliberately blocks, jams or interferes with
authorized wireless communications. In the United States, jammers are
illegal and their use can result in large fines
Jamming is usually distinguished from interference that can occur due to
device malfunctions or other accidental circumstances. Devices that
simply cause interference are regulated under different regulations.
Unintentional 'jamming' occurs when an operator transmits on a
busy frequency without first checking whether it is in use, or without
being able to hear stations using the frequency. Another form of
unintentional jamming occurs when equipment accidentally radiates a
signal, such as a cable television plant that accidentally emits on an
aircraft emergency frequency.

WORKING PRINCIPLE
Jamming devices overpower the cell phone by transmitting a signal on
the same frequency and at a high enough power that the two signals
collide and cancel each other out. Cell phones are designed to add power
if they experience low-level interference, so the jammer must recognize
and match the power increase from the phone.
Cell phones are full-duplex devices, which means they use two separate
frequencies, one for talking and one for listening simultaneously. Some
jammers block only one of the frequencies used by cell phones, which
has the effect of blocking both. The phone is tricked into thinking there
is no service because it can receive only one of the frequencies.
This cell phone jammer operates at GSM800 frequency since most
mobile phones use it to operate. So the selected VCO is a sweeping
oscillator, which is very effective. As a noise source we use a 45MHz clock
oscillator which is driving a Local Oscillator port located on a mini-circuit
mixer. There is also an impedance matching network for the Local
Oscillator signal to pass through it. It is used to equate impedances of the
clock oscillator and the port of the mixer.
RF input (which is this port of the mixer) connects to the first 800MHz
cell phone antenna, and the RF output is sent to the mini-circuit
amplifier. This amplifier increases the output power for 15-16dbm. The
amplified signal is then sent to the second cell phone antenna.
All cell phones which use GSM800 have their transmitted and received
frequencies always separated by 45MHz. So when the mobile phone
tries to call, it is blocked by its own signal returning to it.

APPLICATIONS
Mobile jammer is used to prevent mobile phones from receiving or
transmitting signals with the base stations. Mobile jammers effectively
disable mobile phones within the defined regulated zones without
causing any interference to other communication means. Mobile
jammers can be used in practically any location, but are used in places
where a phone call would be particularly disruptive like Temples,
Libraries, Hospitals, Cinema halls, schools & colleges etc.
Mobile Jammers were originally developed for law enforcement and the
military to interrupt communications by criminals and terrorists to foil
the use of certain remotely detonated explosives. The civilian
applications were apparent with growing public resentment over usage
of mobile phones in public areas on the rise & reckless invasion of
privacy. Over time many companies originally contracted to
design mobile jammers for government switched over to sell these
devices to private entities.
