Candidates pursuing Doctor of Philosophy in Chemistry by research are required to

Candidates are allowed to take modules offered by other departments subject to the
approval from their thesis supervisor (s) and/or department (s). These modules are to be
chosen in consultation with their thesis supervisor (s) and/or department (s). All modules
taken by the candidates will be included in the CAP computation, unless otherwise
indicated by the candidate.

Thesis:

Candidates must submit, through the supervisor (s) and the Head of Department, their
theses for examination within the maximum period of their candidature. The thesis must
be on a topic approved by the respective departments and must make some contribution
to knowledge and not be a mere collation of existing materials. The thesis must contain
original work or critical interpretation worthy of publication.

Achieve a minimum CAP of 3.5 for all modules

- Obtain at least a grade of C for the Graduate English module
- Pass the PhD qualifying examination
- Pass the PhD thesis
- Pass the PhD oral examination

Untuk mahasiswa dari Indonesia

PhD programme requires a good Master’s degree in a relevant discipline, or at least a
Second Class Upper Honours degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline. English
Language Requirements: TOEFL scores for Internet Based Test (IBT) is 90; or IELTS score
of 6.0. 

Untuk mahasiswa internasional

Interested applicants should possess the following:

A good relevant Bachelor and/or Master degree

NUS graduates should have at least a 2nd Upper Honours

The ability to pursue research in the candidate's proposed field of advanced study

English Language Requirements: Minimum TOEFL score is required: 85 for the internet-
based test (with a minimum score of 22 for the writing section); or 580 for the paper-
based test; or 237 for the computer-based test. IELTS result of 6.0 is required.
