4. In a survey of 200 boys, of which 75 intelligent ,4o had skilled fathers while 85 of
the unintelligent boys has unskilled fathers . Do these figures support the
hypothesis that skilled fathers have an intelligent boys. Use 𝝌𝟐 test. Table value of
𝝌𝟐 at 5 % level=3.84.

5. Random samples drawn from two places gave the following data relating to the
heights of adult males.
Place A Place B
Mean height(inches) 68.50 68.58
SD of heights 2.5 3
Sample size 1200 1500
Test at 5% level that the mean height is the same for adults in the two places.
(Table value of 𝒛=1.96).

6. The students are selected at random from a college and their heights are found to
be 100,104,106,110,118,120,122,124,126 and 128cms.in the light of these data
discuss the suggestion that the mean height of the students of the college is
110cm.The table value of 𝒕 at 5%level for 8df is 2.306.
7. Two random samples drawn from normal population are
Sample I 20 16 26 27 23 22 18 24 25 19 - -
Sample II 27 33 42 35 32 34 38 28 41 43 30 37
Obtain estimates of variances of the population and test whether the two
populations have the same variance .Table value of 𝑭 for (11,9)df at 5%level=3.10.

8. The following figures relate to production in kgs. of three variables 𝑨, 𝑩, 𝑪 of wheat

sown on 12 plots.
𝑨 14 16 18
𝑩 14 13 15 22
𝑪 18 16 19 19 20
Is there any significant difference in the production of the varieties . Table value of
𝑭 for (2,9) df at 5%level=4.26.
