 ACTIVITIES TO DEVELOP

Part 1: After checking the Unit 1 Topic 2: Modal Verbs, write 1 sentence using each one of the
following modal verbs regarding your role as citizen: can – could – may - must - should - ought to –
have to – need to- had better - would.

Example:

 I must participate in the democratic process.

Developing

 I can choose my profession.

 I could give my place on the bus to disabled people.

 May be organize a peaceful demonstration.

 I must participate in the presidential elections.

 I should follow the rules of the constitution.

 I ought to throw rubbish in the trash can

 I have to respect other people.

 I need to some proof of identity.

 I had better respect the rules of coexistence.

 I would enforce my rights.

Part 2: According to the topic Past Progressive (Unit 1: Topic 3), each student must write 5 things
you were doing last night and 5 things you were not:

Example:

 I was reading the newspaper at home.

 I was not walking my dog in the park.

Part 3: Write a text about the activities you will do on a three-day trip next vacation. Use at least
two pictures related to your journey. You should write three paragraphs:

Example: I will go to the beach with my son on Sunday afternoon.

 Paragraph 1: First day

 Paragraph 2: Second day
 Paragraph 3: Third day

Each paragraph must have minimum four (4) sentences and maximum six (6) sentences. It must
have a title, from 220 words to 250 and it is necessary to use and highlight the following topics:

 Modal verbs
 Future

FIRST DAY

Next weekend we will being on vacation with my family, we will be visiting the Island of San Andrés.
The first day we have to go around the island, so we can rent a car to move around different places.
In the evening we will be having a special dinner for my mother's birthday.

SECOND DAY

The second day we will be visiting the tourist sites of the Island, we have to visit Johnny Cay, because
we will be swimming in that place. To swim we need to buy a snorkel and a mask, since we have to
see the fish underwater. Then we will be visiting the tiler hole, so that we can enjoy it. The seas must
be very high.

THIRD DAY

The third day we will go shopping, we should buy gifts for our family and friends. I must buy a gift
for my girlfriend, that would make her very happy. When the night comes we will be having a few
drinks, to celebrate and relax. Finally, we will be having to pack our bags as we will returning to
Bogotá.
Part 4: Students must comment about the partners ‘contributions and make corrections if
necessary.
