Motivation Letter
I Touqeer Ahmad (Gold medalist BS Chemistry) a graduate student from COMSATS University,
who has been working on syntheses and surface modification of silver and gold nanoparticles
and their biosensing capability in the last 3 years and have published 1 articles in international
journal of Nanomedicines while other research articles are under study. For the first time we
have synthesized biosensor based on isolated compounds.

My MS research project was “Biosensors based on silver and gold nanoparticles” shows that the
biosensing ability depends on monodspersity and particles morphology. I am interested in
pursuing PhD at your prestigious university under your supervision. I have studied some of your
recent research articles “Triple Hierarchical Porous Carbon Spheres as Effective Cathodes for
Li–O2Batteries” and found that your research area of “Lithium ion Batteries” is well matching to
my interest. I also have extensive knowledge about characterization techniques such as AFM,
SEM, TEM, FTIR and UV Vis spectroscopy. My research experience matches well to your
current research direction so; I would like to precede my research under your current research
project.

I am interested in deeply studying carbon based material for energy purpose, specially the
problems of energy storage, new material to improve electrode performance and increase life
cycles. My fascination with graphene originates from the same source as for much well-known
application to overcome energy crises and provide new insight to existence material by
manipulating their size and shape. The current theme of my projects is to improve performance
of high energy cathode using heterogeneous nanostructures in combination with carbon based
material.

Unfortunately since academic research culture is only beginning to develop in Pakistan, I did not
manage to collaborate with any recent advances in the field of nanoparticles based material for
energy purpose. In addition, I feel your institution and laboratories have the necessary resources,
equipment and technical counseling we so lack in many of our Pakistani universities today. All
in all, I firmly believe that my previous hard work and demonstrated experience in
nanotechnology, and my fascination and familiarity with the influential research makes me a
strong candidate for your graduate research programme.
