i) Applications for Direct Admission are invited from those applicants who have qualified UGC NET(JRF)/
UGC-CSIR(JRF)INSPIRE/ RAJIV GANDHI FELLOWSHIP / MAULANA AZAD FELLOWSHIP/
AWARDEES OF TEACHER/ FELLOWSHIP/ STUDENTS SPONSORED BY ICSSR/ DBT-JRF,
ICMR or ANY OTHER DEPARTMENT OF GOVT. OF INDIA.
ii) Applications are also invited from Himachal Pradesh University teachers /College teachers teaching in
Colleges affiliated to/ maintained by H.P.University. They may apply for Direct Admission against
one Supernumerary seat each in all the Departments. ( Application fees for H.P. University/ College
teachers are Rs. 1100/- )

IN CASE, SEATS REMAIN VACANT, AN ENTRANCE TEST WILL BE CONDUCTED FOR ADMISSION TO PH.D.
PROGRAMME IN DECEMBER, 2017. THE NOTIFICATION TO THIS EFFECT WILL BE ISSUED SUBSEQUENTLY AND WILL
BE AVAILABLE ON THE UNIVERSITY WEBSITE i.e. www.hpuniv.nic.in

Payable in the Form of Demand Draft/ IPOs to be drawn in the favour of Finance Officer, Himachal Pradesh University,
Shimla- 171005. Fees once deposited is not refundable.

1. Eligibility

Candidates for admission to the Ph.D. programme shall have a Master’s degree or a professional degree
declared equivalent to the Master’s degree by the corresponding statutory regulatory body, with at least 55%
marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade ‘B’ in the UGC -7 point scale ( or equivalent grade in a point scale
wherever grading system is followed) or an equivalent degree from a foreign educational Institution
accredited by an Assessment and Accreditation Agency which is approved, recognized or authorized by an
authority, established or incorporated under a law in its home country or any other statutory authority in
that country for the purpose of assessing, accrediting or assuring quality and standards of educational
institutions.

(i) A relaxation of 5% of marks, from 55% to 50% or an equivalent relaxation of grade, may be
allowed for the candidates belonging to SC/ST/Differently- abled and other categories of
candidates as per the decisions of the university taken from time to time, or for those who
had obtained their Master’s degree prior to 19th September, 1991. The eligibility marks
55% or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) and the
relaxation of 5% to the categories mentioned above are permissible based only on the
qualifying marks.

(ii) 3% seats will be reserved for PwD candidates.

(iii) State Reservation Policy as applicable will be followed.


(iv) The number of seats for admission to IIHS will be notified on the website as and when the
technical issues pertaining to the Institute are resolved.

supplied by the candidate especially relating to DATE OF BIRTH, CATEGORY, DOMICILE, and ACADEMIC
QUALIFICATIONS shall be treated as final and no change shall be allowed to be made in this regard at a later stage.
The application shall be scrutinized strictly according to the information supplied by the candidate and the
responsibility with regard to the accuracy of the information shall lie with the candidate himself / herself.

3. Attach the attested copy of the proof of eligibility for seeking direct admission (without entrance test, see-1)
eligibility to Ph.D. Programme.

4. The application complete in all respects along with the attested copies of the certificates/ degrees and requisite
fee must be submitted to the Chairperson/ Director of the concerned teaching Department/ Institute on or before
4st September, 2017.

5. If the candidate to the Ph.D. Programme he/she have to get enrolled / registered for Ph.D. Programme as per the
instructions of the Chairperson/ Director of the concerned Department/ Institute and pay requisite registration fee
and other charges as per Notification No. 1-15/2014-HPU(DS) dated 16-8-2014.

Eligibility
