VIII. Beneficiaries
The immediate beneficiaries of this initiative are the people residing
in Brgy. Sta. Clara, especially those living in close proximity to the coast.
This initiative wishes to touch aspects of disaster risk reduction and
management especially with relevance to coastal or water-borne disasters
that the community is very prone to such as tsunamis, storm surges, coastal
and riverine flooding and such. Moreover, the residents who will participate
in this initiative will gain knowledge and skills in mitigating the effects of
disasters.
IX. Total Cost of the Project
 Php 30, 000.00
X. Rationale of the Project
Batangas City, a buzzling metropolis of more than 330, 000 people
exudes progress and development in every way. However, due to the large
population it houses, it is also highly vulnerable to hazards and disasters,
be it natural and man-made. Relating its proximity to the sea, the effects of
disasters especially coastal and water-borne ones are magnified.
In order to alleviate or possibly lessen the risk factors that come with
disasters, the proponents of this project have conceptualized “Project
DRAFTS (Disaster Risk Alleviation through Facilitated Trainings and
Seminars)” a project which aims to transform a community into a disaster
prepared and environmentally conscious one, targeted at the community of
Brgy. Sta. Clara, Batangas City. The project also seeks to uphold and
incorporate environmental conservation and waste management as
avenues for reducing impacts of disasters.
XI. Objectives
 To raise awareness and preparedness of the people of Brgy. Sta.
Clara, Batangas City with regards to disaster risk reduction and
management in order to alleviate the impacts of disasters

 To prepare the residents and arm them with skills and training on
the different aspects of disaster preparedness such as first aid,
search and rescue operations, evacuation procedures,
emergency drills and the like.
 To transform the community into an environmentally-aware one,
and establish discipline in addressing waste disposal and
environment conservation
XII. Description of the Project, Strategies and Methods/Plan of Action
This project is focused on disaster risk reduction and management,
specifically that concerning coastal and water-borne disasters. In addition,
it also aims to incorporate environmental awareness and conservation as
medium for mitigation of impacts brought about by disasters as well as the
promotion of appropriate waste disposal segregation and recycling
procedures.
In order for this project to be realized, the proponents will seek
assistance from agencies concerned with their cause. These agencies
include: Brgy. Officials of Brgy. Sta. Clara, Batangas City, Bureau of Fire
Protection (BFP), Department of Environment and Natural Resources
(DENR) Region IV-A CALABARZON, and Philippine Red Cross-Batangas
Chapter (PRC-BC). Their professional expertise on their fields of work will
be vital and will ensure that the project is implemented successfully and
positively. These agencies’ officials will serve as resource speakers,
trianers, demonstrators and evaluators of the project’s seminars,
workshops and trainings of the people of the community of Brgy. Sta. Clara,
Batangas City. Listed below are the proposed activities within the project’s
