Comments and Acknowledgements

• Between 2017 and 2018 the WA State science

standards test changed from MSP to WCAS
• Change in testing methodology may contribute to the
drop in overall pass rates from 2017 to 2018
• WCAS is designed to evaluate WA State students on
“Next Generation Science Standards” (NGSS)
• Marketing materials for Amplify claim tight alignment
to NGSS
• Why Amplify schools under-performed versus Non-
Amplify schools is not fully understood, and counter-
intuitive given Amplify’s claimed alignment to NGSS
• In addition, the negative impact to South end schools
is of particular concern
 Overall, the Same Results Hold True
