The University is grateful to all the teachers who have consented to work as examiners in the
Practical and Theory Examinations. The instructions given below, or some of them, may sound rather
strict and stringent. But teachers are requested to appreciate that these instructions are meant solely to
ensure confidentiality and impartiality in the assessment work, to avoid use of unfair means and to
ensure full justice to the students. The examiners are requested to adhere to these instructions
scrupulously.
Instructions for Examiners for Theory Paper Assessment
1. The Dean/Principal of the College carrying out examination of theory papers will act as Co-ordinator
between the University and examiners for all the subjects.
2. The Dean/Principal will nominate one senior teacher as a Custodian for this particular examination.
3. The Custodian will be responsible to receive and dispatch the answer books form/to the University
and also handing over and collection of the answer books for and after assessment from the
examiners.
4. The Custodian of the college responsible for timely receipt and dispatch of the answer books and
mark lists to the University.
5. Once an examiner accepts the Practical examination work, he/she will not be allowed to leave the
practical centre before completion of the assessment work alloptted to him/her.
6. Every examiner will be given a record paper. Every time, while receiving the answer books, he/she
should enter the number of answer books received & the time of accepting the answer books, on
this record paper. This record will form the basis for calculation of the total answer books assessed
and the remuneration entitled to the examiner. The record will be kept with the Custodian of the
Collage Exam Centre.
7. Examine should award marks as per instructions in the scheme of marking.
8. The examiner should not leave any part of the answer book un-assessed. He/She should ensure that
the marks entered in the mark list are the same as entered on the answer book, as per the code
number. The examiner should enter his/her name and signature on each answer book and mark list.
9. The person receiving the assessed answer books from the examiner should confirm that each and
every book is assessed & the marks are entered. A proforma of such a certificate will be provided to
the examiner with every packet of answer books.
10. If an examiner makes any mistake while assessing the answer book, he/she must not overwrite to
correct the mistake. Instead, he/she should encircle the mistake by putting two parallel lines across
the wrong figure and the write the correct marks beside it with his/her signature.
11. The examiner will receive the next packet of answer books for assessment only after completion of
assessment of the first packet.
12. At the time of assessment, if any examiner finds any copying material or any identification marks in
the answer book, the examiner will immediately give a written report, provided by the University in
this regard, to the Co-ordinator of the centre, in duplicate, who will prepare a report regarding the
malpractice reported by the examiner.
13. While assessing the answer books, each Examiner should enter the marks at the place provided for
Examiner
14. Fractional marks should not be rounded to the nearest figure by any examiner; they should be left
as they are.
15. Examiner should use only Red pen for the assessment of answer books.
16. Marks or any tick marks should not be on the matter written by students in answer books.
17. If a candidate has attempted more question than expected,
a) Answer of all attempted question should be assessed and marks should be allotted to all the
answers.
b) The required number of questions with higher marks should be taken into account while
totaling marks of the entire paper.
18. At the time of Verification, if it is found that examiner has left some part of the answer book is
unassessed, then the concerned Examiner will be called to the University Headquarters, for
rectifying the mistakes, at the Examiner’s own cost. No TA/DA will be admissible

Instruction for Practical Examiner
1 Practical examinations should be conducted according to the separate subject- wise marks sheet
provided by the University.
2 While examining the candidate, the examiners should always be present. If there are four examiners,
the examiners should form two pairs to examine the candidates. These pairs should be formed in
such a way that each pair will consist of at least one external examiner. If the examination is
scheduled for more than one day, the examiners in the pair should be changed every day so that the
same two examiners will not be together on consecutive days.
3 It is the responsibility of the convenor:
a) a) To convey the acceptance / non-acceptance of the External examiner to the University, through
the Dean, and to conduct the examinations smoothly.
b) To distribute the work of the examinations evenly amongst the Examiners.
c) To ensure and ascertain that OLD COURSE practical mark sheets are used for OLD COURSE and
NEW Course practical mark sheets are used for NEW COURSE ONLY. Violation of this instruction
will lead to forwarding the concerned case to the Unfair Means Committee.
d) To prepare the consolidated mark lists and get the signatures of all the examiners on such list,
and
e) In case of non-acceptance communicated at the eleventh hour by an External Examiner, consult
the Dean/Principal of your collage for further instructions from the University on appointment of
substitute practical examiners.
4 Any person, who is not concerned with the examination, should not be allowed to enter into the
examination hall.
5 Examiners are requested not to ask personal and irrelevant question to the examinees, If complaints
in this regard are received, the same will be forwarded to the Unfair Means Committee for further
action.
6 The Convenor should prepare a consolidated report about the proceedings of the examination. All
examiners should sign this report. This report should be sealed in same packet, which is used for the
mark list, but in a separate cover. if any examiner wishes to submit a separate report, he may do so.
A separate report can be submitted directly to the University by such an examiner.
7 It is absolutely mandatory for the examiner to write the marks allotted to each experiment / answer
at the end of the respective answer and to write the total of marks of all answer in the format
provided on the front page of the practical answer booklet. The list of experiments (as per syllabus)
given to the candidates for practical Examinations should be sent along with the mark list to the
University.
8 It is mandatory evaluate Long cases /short cases as per marking scheme and respective marks shall
be reflected on the answerbook, failing which such cases shall be treated as “Unfair Means”.
9 No examiner should be permitted to leave the examination hall with the result. The rough work, if
any, should also be sealed in a packet and handed over to the Convenors, who should take proper
care to destroy this material.
10 All the examiner should prepare a consolidated mark list at the end of the whole examination, in
duplicate, i.e. carbon copy. All the examiners should sign the consolidated mark list. Overwriting and
use of whiter fluid for any corrections is to be avoided. However, if at all such corrections are done
inadvertently, then, it is to be ascertained and re-ascertained that, the totaling of the individual
candidate marks are correct.
11 In case at the time of verification of marks, if it is found that any examiner had committed totaling
mistake or incorrect marks are entered, then the concerned Examiner will be called to the University
for rectifying the mistake at the Examiner’s own cost. No TA/DA will be admissible.
12 The original and carbon copy mark list should be sealed in two separate envelopes in presence of the
External Examiner. Original mark list should be sent to the University after completion of practical
examination of every year along with attendance report, answer books, etc. by hand through a
collage representative. Remaining envelopes, containing carbon copy of mark list of each year should
be sent the University after declaration of all result or as and when demanded by the Controller of
Examinations. Dean/Principal will ensure above dispatches within four days and a proper record is
maintained at collage level.
