LITERARY MAGAZINE OUTLINE Commented [JCDP1]: Good work! However, let us

discuss about minimizing your works since there are a lot
of things you like to include already.
I. Title

The title of the magazine will be The Wanderer.

II. Theme

The Wanderer will have a Modernist Provincial Theme (nationalism, rural

life, empowerment, etc.), inspired by Rio Alma’s poetic writing style which varies

from love and nature to contemporary topics.

III. Editorial Platform

The magazine may be compared to some periodicals, most especially

those being sold to the public. It will most likely be similar to a lifestyle magazine;

however, The Wanderer will be a glimpse of the editors’ perspectives about

literature, not only for its entertainment purposes but also for delivering relevant

1
information to their readers. It will express how some topics look like in the face

of the Filipino people.

We have selected to embody a “Modernist Provincial” theme because we

have utilized the style of Virgilio Almario’s writing. The mentioned National Artist

generously creates literary pieces appreciating the country’s traditions,

recognizing nature and beauty, criticism of literary works and taking a stand

during times of diverging opinions concerning the betterment of the country.

This will be created by Justine Marigundon.

IV. Lay out Program

We will be majorly relying on Adobe InDesign for the layout of our

magazine. However, we might also consider using Adobe Photoshop CC, MS

Publisher and MS Word during the editing process.

V. Content of pages (1-4)

 Cover Page & Summary of Magazine Themes

The first part of the magazine will include the summary of The Wanderer’s

themes, what it is about, and it may also feature a picture/drawing related to the

theme/s of the literary works present.

 Table of Contents

The works of the editors will be outlined here, based on how they appear

in the magazine with their respective page numbers.

 Message from the Editors

2
In this corner, the editors would be expressing their thanks to the people

who are reading the magazine. They will also be informing the readers of what’s

in store for them as they read The Wanderer.

 Editors’ Favorites

This part of the magazine shows the editors’ favorites specifically in the

literary edition—movies, books, art, etc. - Page 1 - All editors will contribute.

VI. Content of pages (5-8)

 Editors’ Favorites - Page 2

Same content as what is on Page 1. In this section, the writers and editors

can also share their favorite kind of literary pieces to know them more.

 10-word flash fiction piece

This literary work will be created by Justine Marigundon. The story will

revolve around the life of a person who has experienced living in both urban and

rural places and will reminisce through a short and concise method of narration.

To interact with the readers, spaces are provided to continue the story, also using

the same way or writing, which is the 10-word flash fiction.

 Why Rio Alma?

This will be a feature article showing his important works and why he is

essential to our Filipino Culture as a National Artist. To be fully understood by

the readers, a glimpse of his life including his family, and the struggles and

challenges he faced before earning such a prestigious award. The article will be

written by Jhamila So. Commented [JCDP2]: This will be a kind of CNF.

3
VII. Content of the pages (9-12)

 Literary critique paper

The book that will be given a review is “Sa Mga Kuko ng Liwanag” by

Edgardo M. Reyes. The said novel is about a man named Julio Madiaga, a

fisherman from Marinduque, who went to Manila to find her long-lost girlfriend,

Ligaya Paraiso. Julio thought that this will also serve as an opportunity for him to

find a good, and well-paying stable job, making him escape poverty. Little did he

know that different kinds of abuse and violence wait for him in the city. There was

also a part in the story where characters differentiate Manila from their province.

Trisha Aranas will be writing the paper. Commented [JCDP3]: Your aim is good! However, wait
for our discussion on literary approaches so that your
output could be good.
 CPAR page

This page is allotted for a Contemporary Philippine Arts from the Regions

(CPAR) output.

 Does Baybayin fit in?

This will be a feature article that will discuss the implementation of adding

Baybayin in the curriculum for students and if it helped to contribute to the

nationalism of the people as well as the appreciation of Philippine culture by

those who learned how to understand Baybayin. It will be created by Claire

Arcilla. Commented [JCDP4]: Is this a persuasive or

argumentative essay?

 Tanaga composition

The said tanaga will be an original composition by Claire Arcilla. It will most

likely be about the desires of a Filipino youth; his/her dreams for the country

4
that he lives in. It may also be about the nationalism of a young protagonist

and how he/she views the country and its components ideally but is crushed

by the immense reality of its condition.

VIII. Content of the pages (13-16)

 Poetry Bank

This section of the magazine will serve as a collaborative work

compiling all the poems created by the editors. The poems may vary in styles and

in topics.

 Erasure Poetry

This piece will be created by Jhamila So. It will most probably have a

provincial life theme, focusing on the joys of living in the countryside. It may,

however, tackle another topic but it will still be related to describing how it is to

live in the Philippines one way or another.

 CPAR Page

This page is allotted for a Contemporary Philippine Arts from the Regions

(CPAR) output.

IX. Content of the pages (17-20)

 Editor’s Personal Essay

The essay will be written by Denice Lampaya. It will focus on depicting

and contrasting the lives of hardworking Filipinos from the hubris men of our

country.

5
 CPAR Page

This page is allotted for a Contemporary Philippine Arts from the Regions

(CPAR) output.

 Game Time

This part is about questions, trivia, and puzzles (such as Jumbled Letters)

about the culture and tradition of the different regions in the Philippines. This will

be conceptualized by Trisha Aranas.

 About the Editors

Writers will write a brief description of their life (Bionote) for the readers to

have at least a little background information about them and their achievements

in life as of this moment. Commented [JCDP5]: Why not place this along with the
editor’s note, on the first page?
