Software Installation
1. Right-click on the “Prepar3D SDK X.X.XXXX.X.exe” icon and select “Run as Administrator”. This
should cause a popup to appear prompting for whether you want to allow the program
“Prepar3D SDK X.X.XXXX.X.exe” to run. Click the Yes button to continue with application
installation.
NOTE: If you are running in Windows XP, you do not need to run as the administrator. Rather
than right-clicking on the icon, just double click to start the installation.
NOTE: If the “Run as Administrator” option does not appear, please contact your administrator
and have them install the Prepar3D® SDK for you. You must be an administrator on the machine

later steps.

7. Prepar3D® SDK will have installed an application called “SDK Learning Center” on the computer,
which is now displayed in the start menu. Depending on your version of Windows, it may
appear in different places, but should be similar to the images below. Clicking on the “SDK
Learning Center” icon will load the SDK Learning Center application, which can be used to
navigate the SDK’s documentation.

8. The final step in configuring the SDK is to run the ConfigSDK.exe application. This executable is
located at the base of the Prepar3D® SDK installation directory. If you did not change the
default installation directory, this path should be similar to: C:\Program Files (x86)\Lockheed
Martin\Prepar3D SDK 1.0.2042.0. Navigate to this directory in Windows Explorer.

ConfigSDK.exe updates the other executables provided within the SDK to allow them to run with
your installed copy of the Prepar3D® client. Prepar3D® must have been run at least once in
order for this step to complete correctly.

9. Right-click on the ConfigSDK.exe icon and select “Run as Administrator”. This should cause a
popup to appear prompting for whether you want to allow the program “ConfigSDK.exe” to run.
Click the Yes button to continue with application configuration. A command window will open
and run a series of commands. When it closes, the application has completed its configuration
and the SDK is now ready to use.
NOTE: If you are running in Windows XP, you do not need to run as the administrator. Rather
than right-clicking on the icon, just double click to start the installation.
NOTE: If the Prepar3D® client is not installed or has not been activated, this step will fail. The
SDK samples and documentation can still be used if the Prepar3D® client is not installed;
however, the pre-compiled tools that rely on the Prepar3D® client’s installation may not
function properly.
