This document provides an overview of Kiana Peek's independent study mentorship project on competitive cheerleading. The project will examine what competitive cheer is, how to get involved in all-star cheerleading, the financial and time commitments required, the different levels of competition, and the components that make up a competitive cheer routine. Through shadowing her mentor, a competitive cheer coach, and conducting research, Kiana hopes to educate others on competitive cheerleading and dispel common stereotypes. She plans to create a website and final presentation to showcase what she learns over the course of the semester.
