Industry 4.0 - Design-Build-Operate (IDBO 2020) Contest
Introduction:
Industry 4.0 popularly tagged as Fourth Industrial
Revolution, is attracting huge attention nowadays.
Industry 4.0 encompasses various advanced
digital technologies, automation and data
exchange techniques revolutionizing the process
of industrial production. The synergy of
communication, computation and control brings
new business opportunities, job prospects and a
new set of deployable skills. To meet these
challenges in changing industrial environment,
SRM Institute of Science and Technology
(SRMIST) foreruns with proactive measures
through introduction of new courses,
establishment of advanced laboratories like
Industrial IoT, Smart factory, Technical clubs like
IoTa (Internet of Things Alliance), Arduino club
and also through conduction of seminars,
conferences and workshops. The faculty
members are being trained in Industries through
Industry Immersion Program and students are
encouraged to do industry related projects.
Industry requires students with social skills like
communication, collaboration, exibility,
leadership, and creative thinking in addition to
technical skills. Also multidisciplinary team work
is an essential requirement of contemporary
industry. Considering the need of new skill sets
and team work, SRMIST has been conducting
awareness programs on Industry 4.0. In
