ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA FOR M.PHIL./PH.D.

A candidate is eligible for Admission for the M.Phil./Ph.D. programme provided he/she has
qualified :

1. For M.Phil.:

(a) Master’s Degree of any recognized University/other qualifications recognized as

equivalent thereto in such fields of study as are notified for the purpose from time to
time by the University. The minimum eligibility criteria is 55% marks at Post
Graduation level [50% in case of reserved categories {SC, ST, OBC (Non-
Creamy) and PWD}], and

(b) For detailed discipline specific eligibility criteria, please see Appendix RU – I

2. For Ph.D.:

(a) Master’s Degree and/or M.Phil. in the relevant discipline along with the
qualifications mentioned in point 1(a) above.

(b) For detailed discipline specific eligibility criteria, please see Appendix RU – I

However, candidates holding M.Phil. degree (along with course work and dissertation both) or
those candidates who have cleared NET (conducted by UGC/CSIR/ICAR) or any other equivalent
examination will be exempted from appearing in the Entrance Test.

Those who have not cleared NET/any other equivalent examination or not holding M.Phil.
Degree will be required to appear for the entrance test.

The Entrance Test will be conducted at the national level in the selected centres across the country
(see Appendix RU – III)

SELECTION PROCEDURE

Stage 1: Entrance Test

Important Instructions

1. The Entrance Test will be conducted by the University on 4th of December, 2016 (Sunday) at
National Level (see Appendix RU – III).

2. The list of candidates who will be required to appear for the Entrance Test will be
displayed on the website, www.ignou.ac.in.

3. Hall Tickets enabling the candidates to take the Entrance Test will also be displayed on our
website. You have to download and print the same to appear in the Entrance Test.

4. Please bring along with you an original identity proof which has your photograph, such as
Aadhar Card, Voter ID Card, Driving License, Passport and ID Card issued by Govt.
Agencies.

Stage 2: Interview/ Presentation

Important Instructions

1. Candidates who will be successful in the Entrance Test will be called for
interview/presentation of Synopsis before the Discipline Doctoral Committee.

2. Those candidates exempted from appearing in the Entrance Test will also be called for
interview/presentation of Synopsis before the Discipline Doctoral Committee.

3. Offer letters for admission will be sent to the Selected Candidates only.

Note:

I The last date for applying online is 31st October, 2016. No offline/hardcopy
of the form will be accepted.

II Application fee of Rs. 1,000/- is non-refundable under any circumstances.

III For any discipline specific query at any stage, candidates are advised to
contact the respective Programme Coordinators (see Appendix RU – III)
