4. PROC CEDURE
It is recog
gnized that where an employee
e wworks long hours, they may be suubjected to excessive
physical demands liiable to inccrease the risk of injuury. In addittion, their pperformance may be
impaired by fatigue, reducing effficiency and
d safety aw
wareness.
The proviision of a safe workpla ace and saffe system ofo work are obligationss upon the Company,
both lega
al and mora al. It is also

ation of thee employeee to work reresponsibly, including
taking possitive steps to avoid da angerous si tuations fro
om developing that couuld lead to accidents.

4.1 Norm mal Hours of o Work


The normmal hours off work will be
b up to 12 hours per dayd with a maximum
m oof 16 hours allowed in
special ciircumstance es, where there
t is a sspecific skill requireme
ent, e.g. plaant shutdow

machinerry failure, ettc.

4.2 Restt Periods

ours rest beetween shiftts.

4.3 Exte enuating Circumstanc ces

ence at the end of thee period of work and will

allowed bback on site for a minimmum of 24 hhours after completing

4.4 Cons secutive Work

4.5 Work k Planning

However,, fatigue ca an occur no ot only as a result of long workinng hours, bbut occurs during

normal wwork cycle. For examp ple, people accustome ed to working day sh ift, when teemporarily
transferre
ed to nightsshifts, will exxperience ssymptoms of o tiredness between thhe hours off 2.00 and
6.00 a.m.. It is also common
c forr people to feel sleepy between 2.00
2 and 4.000 p.m. afte
er taking a
midday m meal. Critical operations should, so far as practicable e, be plannned outside e of these
hours.
