A Narrative Report

The Senior High School faculty had rostered their SLAC session on October 12, 2018 but
due to conflict of schedule from other faculty activities and it was re-scheduled last December 13,
2018. The said event was
held at Dr. Santiago The objectives of this session are (1) to learn more about the
Dakudao Sr. National High PPST strands and to align teaching practices with the indicators, (2) to
School – FBS room. innovate on teaching practices using the PPST resource guide
samples and (3) to enhance the teachers’ pedagogical knowledge,
skills and attitudes holistically. The content focuses on (1) Knowledge
and its application within and across curriculum areas, (2) research-
based knowledge and principles of teaching learning, (3) positive use
of ICT, (4) Strategies for promoting literacy and numeracy, (5)
strategies for developing critical and creative thinking, as well as other
higher order thinking skills.
The session started at 8:00 am on the topic “Apply knowledge of content within and across
curriculum teaching areas” presented by Ms. Arlyn Dorado. The topic includes planning and creating
Daily Lesson Logs comprises culminating classroom-based Activities, school-based activities and
community-based activities.

The second topic was about “Use a range of teaching strategies that
enhance learner achievement in literacy and numeracy skills” presented by
Ms. Maria Nennah F. Figuracion. She able to discusses about Literacy
across Curriculum Areas, Numeracy across Curriculum Areas and,
Numeracy and Literacy in Classroom Instruction.
The third discussion was about “Apply a range of teaching strategies
to develop critical and creative thinking, as well as other higher-order
thinking skills” presented by Mr. Erlie Bagnol. The interesting topic includes
Development through Problem-Based Strategies, Development through
Effective Questioning Strategies, Development through Visualization,
Development through Plus, Minus, Interesting (PMI) Strategy, and
Development through Role, Audience, Format and Topic (RAFT) Strategy.

The fourth presenter was Ms. Allyn A. Mice which she shared her
expertise about topic “Plan, manage and implement developmentally
sequenced teaching and learning processes to meet curriculum
requirements through various teaching contexts”. This topic focusing on how
to create a Daily Lesson Log that the design would be satisfying the needs
to make teaching and learning process seamless and progressive to our
learners. It enables the teachers to guide, mentor and support learners in
developing and assessing their learning across the curriculum.
The last topic of the SLAC session was presented by Ms. Ana
Marie Suganob entitled “Select, develop, organize and use appropriate
teaching and learning resources, including ICT, to address learning
goals.” The topic addresses the process of choosing appropriate teaching
learning resources that should be supplemental to the learning
competencies.

Before the session was ended, each of the senior high teachers are task to present a teaching
demonstration with their daily lesson log. The activity ended and closed at 12:00 noon after insightful
demonstration and inquiry by the participants. End.
