ABSTRACT

Every mining operation needs hauling road as an essential infrastructure tool in

the mining site. Same case in the PT. RIMAU ENERGY MINING, hauling road
is a success indicator of achieving production target in the company. The
conveyance will pass the road to bring the material like coal or overburden every
time. Specifically in the process of the road construction, the writer will do the
research for soil bearing capacity in the in-pit road for overburden and coal
material transport with California Bearing Ratio Segment method because it is
still hard to determine the thickness of road pavement in the in pit hauling road.

This study have purposes to know the CBR value of observation point and CBR
segment of mining road in block-15 with DCPT (Dynamic Cone Penetration Test)
machine in the PT. Rimau Energy Mining, to know the thickness of the base
course based on the calculation of Giroud and Han method, to know the soil
bearing capacity of subgrade from the value of field CBR, and to know the
maximum load that can be supported by in-pit road.

Based on the calculation of data analysis in point 21, the maximum CBR segment
value is in the segment III with CBR value 25%, but the minimum CBR segment
value is in the segment I, with CBR value 5.77%. Based on both CBR value in the
clarification table, segment III was classified as good, and for segment I, II, and
IV were classified as bad. The calculation result of the thickness of base course
that was used Giroud and Han method was 0.40 m. The calculation result of the
soil bearing capacity of subgrade is strong if P<Ph=0. For CBR segment I rutting
that happened for 75mm and for the maximum thickness of the heap 0.40, will
produce the subgrade bearing capacity 25.4 ton. For CBR segment 2 rutting that
happened for 75mm and for the maximum thickness of the heap 0.40, will
produce the subgrade bearing capacity 31.7 ton. For CBR segment 3 rutting that
happened for 75mm and for the maximum thickness of the heap 0.40, will
produce the subgrade bearing capacity 110.7 ton. For CBR segment IV rutting
that happened for 75mm and for the maximum thickness of the heap 0.40, will
produce the subgrade bearing capacity 34.8 ton. For the maximum load subgrade
that can pass from segment I to segment IV, the load of truck ADT A40f was used
as the parameter of this research. The maximum load of segment I is 135.8 ton,
the maximum load of segment II is 169.22 ton, and the maximum load of segment
IV is 186.14 ton.
