Re: William Murdock Criminal Conviction
Rev. Douglas Love Communication
Dear Dr. Yeager:
Ihave reviewed the letter and documents sent to you by Rev. Douglas Love and have
looked at the law on the matter.
It is my opinion that the criminal conviction in August of 1988 is a basis for suspension
‘or revocation of Mr. Murdock’s certificate by the State Board of Education. That process is
started by filing a written request for suspension or revocation along with substantiating
information with the State Superintendent of Public Instruction. From that point on, the
Process is handled by the State Superintendent and the State Board. I enclose a copy of the
State Board of Education regulations from the North Carolina Administrative Code regarding
suspension or revocation of certificates.
Since Mr. Murdock is no longer employed by the Buncombe County Schools and
considering the passage of time since the conviction, I do not recommend that you request
revocation of his certificate. Rev. Love can make the request if he wants to pursue the matter,
I will be glad to write Rev. Love at your request.
