CAREER HIGHLIGHTS AND ACHIEVEMENTS

EDUCATION:

1992-1993
• Graduated with a degree in Master in Development
Management from the Asian Institute of Management (AIM)
with scholarship from the Asian Development Bank Japan- the
first woman with disability to qualify and earned a degree in one
of Asia’s prestigious Management institution;
1983-1987
• Earned a degree in Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication from
Trinity College of Quezon City; served as Editor in Chief of the
College Paper for three consecutive years; lead the campaign in
making Trinity College an accessible school for students with
disabilities; as a result of what she had started, Trinity College is
now the pioneer school in providing accessible environment for
students with disabilities; A scholar of the Association of
International College Women
1983-
• Passed the Philippine Educational Placement Test, which
promoted her from first year high school to first year college

• 2002-2004:
Marketing, Advertising and Promotions Manager of the 1%
Campaign Project for an alliance of NGO’s headed by the Philippine
Children’s Fund of America and Tahanang Walang Hagdanan;

• 2000-2002
Established the Women With Disabilities Leap to Social and
Economic Progress as an organization of women with disabilities
and develop its membership, programs and supervise the
income generating project with funding from the Global Fund for
Women;

• 1996- 1999
• Served as International UN Volunteer as Executive Director and
turned Technical Adviser to the National Center of Disabled
Persons under the Ministry of Social Affairs in Cambodia through
the United Nations Development Program; She lead the
development and Administration of the National Center of
Disabled Persons as a resource center for Cambodians with
disabilities. Her accomplishments included ; developing
programs and services that the center is now offering ; opening
opportunities for products of Cambodians with disabilities to
export market (Australia and Europe);trained local people in
managing the center; Organized Special events for promotion
and to encourage participations of Cambodians with disabilities
in community activities.

• 1987- 1996
Served as Public Relations and Fund Raising Manager of
Tahanang Walang Hagdanan for nine years; considered
establishing the Community Based Rehabilitation Program as an
important achievement in her career with the institution, having
organized at least 13 organizations of persons with disabilities;

VOLUNTARY AND CONCURRENT WORKS:

2010- Elected Council Member, National Anti-Poverty


Commission- representing women with disabilities
• Lead in formulation of policies and recommendations for the
inclusion of disability issues and concerns within the
development plan of every local government units and active
participation of persons with disabilities in local governance;
• Work on building the capabilities of grassroots organizations of
women with disabilities and cross disability groups in advocacy
for a rights base and barrier free community;

2004-till present
• Founding Director – Alyansa ng May Kapansanang Pinoy- the
national federation of persons with disability organizations;
actively participated in conducting membership orientations
nationwide; lead the educational campaign for disability laws
programs and services and their strict implementation at the
local government level;
• Now leading a legal battle against violators of disability laws and
active involvement of persons with disabilities in claiming their
rights;
2000-till present
• Founding President- Women With Disabilities Leap to Social and
Economic Progress (WOW LEAP Inc); lead the development of
this organization to become the voice of women with disabilities;
lead the conduct of series of consultation for women leaders with
disabilities nationwide and now in the process of organizing a
national federation of women with disabilities;

1999-2006
• Founding President/ Director- Sr. Valeriana Baerts Foundation-
provided direction and lead in the development of programs and
raising of funds for the organization;

1994-present
• Founding Director- Taytay Bukas Buhay Inc.-a community based
organization of persons with disabilities in Taytay, Rizal-
1995-present
• President and Founding Director- Rizal Council of Persons with
Disabilities- a provincial federation of persons with disability
organization in Rizal working to empower leaders and advocates
of persons with disabilities in the community
