Advantages and disadvantages of living in a big city

According to some research, due to urbanization and economic growth more than 80% of the
global population will be living in cities by 2050 due to the different benefits it has; however,
there are some people who does not really seem to be keen on that lifestyle, let´s see its
advantages and handicaps.

On the one hand, there is the humongous amount of buildings and public spaces it has to
interact with. As a city is denser, bigger and more compact than a town it has more places
which can be useful for the population, so much for work time and basic needs (e.g.
Supermarket) as for leisure (e.g. Sports centre). Consequently, this results in a wider range of
entertainment activities and people and so it is easier for the citizen to find new friends and
hobbies.

On the other hand, it is well-known that this lifestyle is more expensive and busier than living
in the countryside. The cost of the apartments it´s not for all budgets and on top is added to
the price of the parking and the food, which is not affordable for everybody. As a consequence
of this, people rent smaller apartments which make them feel more oppressed and that allow
them to listen to everything that is happening outdoors, which usually stresses them.

To sum up, despite of the noise, hustle, hurry and cost a city lifestyle can mean, other factors
like human diversity, the availability of lots of leisure activities and how handy everything
comes makes up for the experience.
