Introduction
• Waste management are the activities and actions required to manage waste from its
inception to its final disposal.
• This includes the collection, transport, treatment and disposal of waste, together with
monitoring and regulation of the waste management process
• Waste can be solid, liquid, or gaseous and each type has different methods of disposal
and management. Waste management deals with all types of waste, including
industrial, biological and household. In some cases waste can pose a threat to human
health.
5
Introduction
• Waste is produced by human activity, for example the extraction and processing of raw
materials .
• Waste management is intended to reduce adverse effects of waste on human health, the
environment or aesthetics.
• A large portion of waste management practices deal with municipal solid waste which
is the bulk of the waste that is created by household, industrial, and commercial activity

Abstract
• With the increasing population and industrialization of nations throughout the globe,
waste has become a great concern for all of us. Over years, researchers figured that
only waste management is not enough for its proper treatment and disposal techniques
to preserve our environment and keeping it clean in this era of globalization.
• With the help of technology researchers have, introduced IoT based Smart Waste
Management solutions and initiatives that ensures reduced amount of time and energy
required to provide waste management services and reduce the amount of waste
generated.
8
Abstract
• Unfortunately, developing countries are not being able to implement those
existing solutions due to many factors like socio-economic environment.
• Therefore, in this presentation we have concentrated our thought on
developing a smart eco-friendly garbage management system for developing
countries like INDIA that will ensure proper disposal, collection,
transportation and recycling of household waste with the minimum amount
of resources being available.

9
Objectives
• Reduce mileage on fleet vehicles.
• Cut costs (on labor/maintenance/fuel, etc.)
• Save Time – Increase efficiency.
• Identify the most cost-effective routes.
• Give a better response to customers
• Less time is spent planning routes, or picking up at sites that don’t need service.
• Avoid transportation delays, while tracking fleet in real-time.

Working Of
Monitor Waste
13
Overview Of The Monitoring System
• The idea struck us when we observed that the garbage truck use to go around the
town to collect solid waste twice a day. Although this system was thorough it was very
inefficient.
• For example let's say street A is a busy street and we see that the garbage fills up really
fast whereas maybe street B even after two days the bin isn't even half full.
• What our system does is it gives a real time indicator of the garbage level in a trashcan
at any given time. Using that data we can then optimize waste collection routes and
ultimately reduce fuel consumption.
14
15
Basic Model Works Like
• To start with you will first have to enter the height of the dustbin. This will help us
generate the percentage of trash in the trashcan.
1. The amount of trash, in other words let's say if your bin is half full you don't really
need to empty it. Our thresh, or maximum amount that we permit of trash, is 75% of
the bin.
2. If supposing a particular trashcan fills up 20% and then for a week doesn't change, it
comes into our second criteria, time. With time even the little amount will start rotting
leading to a smelly surrounding. To avoid that our tolerance level is 2 days, so if a
trashcan is less than 75% but it is two days old it then will also need to be emptied.
16
Basic Model Works Like
• An ultrasonic sensor (OR a distance sensor) will be placed on the interior side of the
lid, the one facing the solid waste. As trash increases, the distance between the
ultrasonic and the trash decreases. This live data will be sent to our micro-controller.
• Our micro- controller then processes the data and through the help of WiFi sends it
to an app.
• What the app does it visually represents the amount of trash in the bin with a small
animation.

19
Working Of
Track The Trash
20
Basic Model For Track
• Placing the sensor based static waste
collection garbage bins.
• Geo-tagging of the bins.
• Create an app with Google maps as a
background layer.
• Import all the geo-tagged points into
our application.

21
22
23
Advantages Of Track The Trash System
• Avg. time spent by each garbage vehicle per week.
• Avg. route covered each garbage vehicle per week.
• Avg. volume of garbage collection per week.
• Digital asset maintenance
• Optimum utilization of resources
• Analysis and predictions on urban agglomeration

CleanFLEX
• Their solar-powered trash
compactor – CleanCUBE – can
hold up to eight times more
garbage compared to non-
compacting bins, reducing
collection frequency up to 80 %.
Their ultrasonic fill-level sensor –
CleanFLEX.

Recycle Electronics System
27
Recycle Electronics System

• smart waste collection system is a

convenient option for managing e-
waste, helping divert more than 14
million smartphones and tablets
from landfills. Simply bring your
old devices to the kiosk nearest
you and your device will be
properly recycled or refurbished for
resale.
28
Working of
Trash Smarter System
29
Trash Smarter System
• This smart waste bin tells you which items should be composted, trashed or
recycled at your organization. As objects are tossed into the bin, a scale
system detects the change in weight and triggers a customizable message that
slides, scrolls or pops onto the screen.
• The content can be modified to show items that are typically tossed at your
specific venue. This smart waste system offers a dynamic, educational
experience designed to reward users for responsible waste disposal.

Trash Smarter System

31
Working Of
Trash Sort System
32
Trash Sort System
• smart waste container that automatically recognizes, sorts and compresses waste
using a camera, sensors and artificial intelligence. Once the device identifies the
material, shape and color of the waste, it is distributed into the appropriate bin within
the container – plastics, paper or glass.
• After that, the waste is compressed so the total volume can be up to five times less.
Once full, this self-sorting waste bin automatically notifies your trash collection
company.
• This allows for collection routes to be optimized for improved fuel efficiency.

34
Waste Management Systems By Recycling Waste

• Recycling is the process of converting waste materials into new

materials and objects.
• Example :- Recycling Partners will differentiate and separate biodegrading,
metal-plastic and glass from wastes. After separating wastes, they can send
waste types to predetermined factories for further process or recovery.
• If waste type is metal and plastic, then process is to recycle metal and plastic.
For other types, digitalized recycling processes are now available to recycle
waste

35
Waste Management Systems Bio DegradableBags

• The first essential step to manage waste is packing garbage properly with bags so that it
becomes easier to carry for further process. Bio degradable oxy bags for household
consumers would be the effective choice for packing garbage.
• Biodegradable bags that are fit for being deteriorated by bacteria or other living
organisms.
• Household consumers will pack waste with biodegradable bags and bags will be picked
by the volunteers on right time. This packing system will make everything flexible for
management as no stench will spread and waste will remain in ordered form.

NEW DESIGN THAT MOSTLY
WORK OF ALL THINGS IN ONE

37
FUTURE WORK
• SCOPE:- Our project is better solution to existing system. We can be using Google
map to locate the position of dustbin.
• Location Mapping: Garbage disposal facilities at proper places.
• SMARTBIN can be more user friendly by making it artificially intelligent using
machine learning.
• SMARTBIN can be converted to IOT so that it can communicate with the user and
other smart bin, its own network. Additional feature is that it will be connected to
the wireless CCTV, so that it can be used by the user for other purpose like security,
traffic management etc.
