Hydrophilic Swellable Waterstop

Description
The QUICSEAL 701 is a flexible swellable rubber waterstop that swells upon contact with water to
form a lasting compression seal. QUICSEAL 701 is manufactured from a high performance rubber
and hydrophilic polyurethane resin.

When in contact with water, the large quantity of hydrophilic group in the rubber forms hydrogen
bond in the presence of water molecule, thus increasing the rubber volume even under mechanical
stress.

The expansion of the waterstop creates a positive seal against the face of the concrete joint, thus
preventing water entry into the structure through the protected joint.

Uses
ƒ Preventing the passage of water through non-movement joints in new cast in-situ concrete
and between new and existing concrete.
ƒ Example: joints in potable water tanks, secant piled walls and diaphragm walled
basements, pilecaps, etc.
ƒ Civil Engineering works; tunnels, box culverts, sanitary and stormwater manholes, etc.
ƒ Precast concrete wall panel systems.
ƒ Integral sealing for joints in cast in-situ concrete where conventional waterstops are
impractical to use due to limited access.
ƒ Wrapping around pipe penetrations.

Application Instructions
QUICSEAL 701 may be installed either into a groove cast in the concrete or bonded directly onto
the concrete surface using suitable adhesive or QUICSEAL 304 Epoxy Putty. Mechanical fixings
may also be used where adhesives are not suitable.

A minimum of 50mm of concrete cover must separate QUICSEAL 701 from the face of the
concrete.

Limitations
QUICSEAL 701 should not be used in expansion joints or in locations subject to significant
repetitive movements. Expansion joints must be sealed with a conventional waterstop.

Packaging
QUICSEAL 701 is supplied in lengths of 50m per roll.

Storage
Store in original unopened packaging in cool and dry condition.
