Why Kithaus?

Designed by Tom Sandonato and Martin Wehmann, this 9'x13' structure redefines conventional
prefab with its proprietary clamping system that makes installation quick, economic and
practically waste-free. What also caught our attention about Kithaus is how it can tuck into
any area, even remote locations, without needing ultra heavy equipment. All of the light-
weight, anodized aluminum pieces are pre-cut and drilled in Southern California and shipped
to you for on-site assembly. Installation is fast, taking only a few days, and Kithaus is built
with eco-friendly components. Wondering where you can use Kithaus? How about anywhere
you need a fully insulated, pre-wired comfortable space.

In addition to the physical structure, DWR offers furnished packages that have been space-

Frequently Asked Questions

What is included? Aluminum frame; insulated walls, floor and ceiling; exterior and interior
cladding; waterproof membrane; sub-flooring; dual-glazed windows and sliding doors; front
and side decks; louvers and canopies; pre-wired data port connection box, ceiling hook-up
and wall switch. (There’s also a model available without decks, louvers and canopies.)

What does “site constructed” mean? The parts are all pre-cut and drilled at the Kithaus
factory and delivered to your desired site as a “kit” to be assembled on-site. This gives you
the freedom to build in remote and varied geographical conditions, without needing ultra
heavy equipment.

When will I receive my Kithaus? Delivery varies depending on the location of your site,
but generally you will receive your Kithaus in 4–6 weeks.

Do I need to hire a contractor to install my Kithaus? There is a professional installation

service available through Kithaus (recommended), however the structure can also be
assembled by two or three people who have some construction experience. Detailed
instructions are included with Kithaus.

Where is Kithaus manufactured? Kithaus is made in California.

How can I use Kithaus? There are countless residential and commercial possibilities,
such as an office, extra bedroom, artist studio, yoga room, dining pavilion, kids’ playroom,
meeting space, hotel bungalow or a leasing office for new developments.

What are the “green” aspects of Kithaus? Recyclable aluminum; FSC-certified wood;
dual-glazed windows and doors; insulated walls, ceiling and floor; minimal waste from
assembly; flat-pack shipping for reduced packaging materials; minimal impact to surrounding
landscape. A solar package is available for Kithaus; contact us for information.

How much does it cost? The complete Kithaus, including decks, canopies and louvers,
is $49,456. (A base model is available for $32,450.) Prices do not include shipping,
tax (if applicable) or installation. Shipping costs vary depending on location. Please contact

is unnecessary in most areas, and because installation does not require any ultra
heavy equipment, it’s not necessary to clear-cut trees or landscaping to provide
access for such vehicles. This gives you a lot of freedom in choosing the location
and orientation of your Kithaus.

Step 2 : check to see if you need a permit. In most municipalities, anything

under 120 square feet (Kithaus is 117 square feet) is permit-exempt as an accessory
structure. To find out the requirements for your area, contact us and we will advise.

Step 3: place your order. Contact Dow O’Neal at 415.676.6648 or

kithaus@dwr.com. In just 4–6 weeks, your Kithaus will arrive at your site,
ready for assembly. What you’ll receive are flat-packed pallets containing
pieces that were pre-cut, marked and drilled at the California-based factory.
