5. Mark the plate fixing holes
6. Mark the holes for the electric cables connecting the x-ray control to the radiographic unit

PLEASE NOTE
To prevent any flaking of the white paint coat and to control the center distances between the
holes, it is advisable to start drilling with a tip Ø7, increasing this measure gradually.

7. Drill the plate fixing holes

8. If required, drill the holes for the electric cables connecting the x-ray control to the
radiographic unit

10. CHECKING THE INSTALLATION

CAUTION
When assembly and all connections are completed, the installer must check the electrical
safety and function of the system for compliance.

OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS:

1. Checking the configuration

Check on the control panel that all LEDs corresponding to the required configuration are lit;
otherwise, change them.
(Refer to section. 7 “SYSTEM CONFIGURATION” and section.8 “CHANGING THE
CONFIGURATION”.)

2. Checking the x-ray control operation

a. Verify the correct operation of the control panel by selecting different exposure times
b. Verify the time on the display
c. When changing the selected radiographic unit, check that the corresponding external
RX signal lamps (if installed) turn on.

3. Checking the exposure: CAUTION! Radiation will be emitted.

a. Set an exposure time of 1 sec

b. Lift the "CONTROL BUTTON" on the x-ray control
c. Using the extensible cable of the “CONTROL BUTTON”, keep a safe distance (length
of the cable) or at least 2 meters (7 feet) from the radiographic unit, to check the
radiographic exposure.

d. Press the “X-RAY KEY” and keep it pressed until the acoustic signal (beep)

stops and the yellow “X-RAY OUTPUT SIGNAL” Led turns off.

PLEASE NOTE
If the “EXPOSURE BUTTON” is released early, the exposure is immediately
interrupted and the E12 error message appears on the display.

e.
At the end of the exposure, verify the operation of the Led “PAUSE INDICATOR”

f. Verify on the display the indication of the actual exposure time

(Refer to section 11.4 “EXPOSURE TIME (sec)”)

xgenus ac/dc 41
4. Checking the operation of the radiographic unit: CAUTION! Radiation will be
emitted

Carry out several exposures on the installed radiographic units installed and check for the
following:

a. There are no errors.

b. The LED (AC or DC) of the selected radiographic unit is lit.
c. The "CONTROL BUTTON" LED is lit over the duration of the acoustic signal.

5. Checking the power drawn by the radiographic system: CAUTION! Radiation will
be emitted.

To check the power drawn by the radiographic system, a meter must be used, with the
Ammeter in “AC”

a. Connect the instrument to the power supply line

(refer to section 5.9 “X-RAY CONTROL ELECTRICAL CONNECTION”)

PLEASE NOTE
The electric system complies with the requirements when the result of the formula is
as follows:
∗ ∗∗
(V0 – V1 ) / V0 ≤ 0.03 or 0.012

Otherwise, the electric system must be adjusted

4. Exposure time (s)

The exposure time is measured with a “non invasive” instrument.

∗∗
PLEASE NOTE
The “xgenus” x-ray control features the "self-compensating" technology.
The automatic correction or compensation of the exposure time offsets the effects of the
line voltage fluctuations on x-ray film quality.
Radiographic over/under exposure is eliminated.
The automatic correction system works as follows:
• A voltmeter located inside the timer constantly reads the mains voltage
while the operator selects the required exposure time.
• The last voltage measured (before the exposure) is sent to the
microprocessor. The selected exposure time is corrected to voltage by
applying a special algorithm.
• At the end of the exposure, during the pause time, the time-corrected value
is shown on the display of the x-ray control.
THE PAUSE TIME IS APPROX. 32 TIMES THE SET TIME.
The correct time is the actual duration of the exposure

The accuracy of the “actual time” is factory checked with instrument PMX-I.

5. Checking the exposure time (continued on p. 45: “Operating instructions”)

WARNING
While performing periodic quality checks, some differences between the set exposure time and
the measured exposure time may be detected.
The differences are due to the automatic time compensation that intervenes when the power
voltage differs from the nominal one.

The x-ray control is provided with two types of accuracy measurements for the exposure time:

A. Set exposure (is the exposure time set by the operator on the x-ray control).

The max error is +100% / - 100% when the voltage fluctuation is -5% / +10%.

B. After exposure: it’s the exposure duration (automatically adjusted). It’s calculated by the
microprocessor according to the line voltage, and it’s shown on the display.

a. Put the “X-ray detector” at the cone outlet; center the primary beam.
b. Turn on the x-ray control
c. Set one exposure time on the control.
d. Release the exposure.
e. At the end of the exposure, when the functional pause period starts, read the actual time of
exposure on the display.
f. To check the accuracy of the exposure time, use the chart below.

17. CLEANING THE OUTER SURFACES

Use a soft cloth dampened with water and mild soap to clean the outer surfaces of the x-ray.

DO NOT permit water or any liquid to penetrate the machine or severe electrical component damage
may occur. Damage of this nature is not covered under warranty.

For protection against cross-infection, it is recommended that barrier protection be used and replaced
for each patient.

Germicides must be selected carefully, realizing that many are not suitable for use with such plastics
that are used in manufacturing. Damage of this nature is not covered under warranty.

18. IF A REPAIR SHOULD BECOME NECESSARY

In case of a malfunction, contact your local Technical Service Representative.

They will call TG Group for an RA Number (Return Authorization). This will authorize one the return of
