5. INSTALLATION
CAUTION
The “xgenus ac/dc” radiographic systems must be installed by professionally trained
technicians, who must be able to certify their work.
CAUTION
Prior to proceeding with the installation, check that all requirements are met.
5.1 UNPACKING
The components of the “xgenus ac/dc” radiographic systems are delivered by the factory securely
packaged within a specifically designed box, as shown in the following sketch (Fig. 5):
PLEASE NOTE
Prior to installation, please check all components for shipping damage. Advise the carrier.
PLEASE NOTE
The carton materials and the polystyrene foam can be completely recycled or disposed of by
authorized recycling companies.
PLEASE NOTE
It is advisable to store the original packaging to return the goods for repairs if required.
xgenus ac/dc 15
5.2 ASSEMBLING THE WALL PLATE
1. Take the wall plate out of the packaging (refer to Fig. 5) Use the drilling template provided
2. Position the drilling template on the radiographic system installation wall, at the required
height (130 cm from the base is the suggested height)
3. Fix the template to the wall with adhesive tape
4. Check the holes for vertical and horizontal alignment with the floor, using a plumb line
5. Mark the plate fixing holes
6. Mark the holes for the electric cables connecting the x-ray control to the radiographic unit
PLEASE NOTE
To prevent any flaking of the white paint coat and to control the center distances between the
holes, it is advisable to start drilling with a tip Ø7, increasing this measure gradually.
PLEASE NOTE
If the wall is not perfectly leveled, put a suitable shim between the wall and the plate, so as to
prevent any possible warping of the mounting plate.

The 82.5 cm and 110 cm brackets are provided with a stop key (Fig. 7A and 7B) to prevent the
electric cable from twisting.
PLEASE NOTE
Generally, the stop key is installed so that the equipment position at rest is on the right side of a
possible viewer when standing in front of the wall plate (Fig. 7A).
Should the position at rest be on the left side, the stop key must be rotated by 180° (Fig. 7B).

b. Verify the time on the display
c. When changing the selected radiographic unit, check that the corresponding external
RX signal lamps (if installed) turn on.
d. Press the “X-RAY KEY” and keep it pressed until the acoustic signal (beep)
stops and the yellow “X-RAY OUTPUT SIGNAL” Led turns off.
PLEASE NOTE
If the “EXPOSURE BUTTON” is released early, the exposure is immediately
interrupted and the E12 error message appears on the display.

4. Exposure time (s)
∗∗
PLEASE NOTE
The “xgenus” x-ray control features the "self-compensating" technology.
The automatic correction or compensation of the exposure time offsets the effects of the
line voltage fluctuations on x-ray film quality.
Radiographic over/under exposure is eliminated.
The automatic correction system works as follows:
• A voltmeter located inside the timer constantly reads the mains voltage
while the operator selects the required exposure time.
• The last voltage measured (before the exposure) is sent to the
microprocessor. The selected exposure time is corrected to voltage by
applying a special algorithm.
• At the end of the exposure, during the pause time, the time-corrected value
is shown on the display of the x-ray control.
THE PAUSE TIME IS APPROX. 32 TIMES THE SET TIME.
The correct time is the actual duration of the exposure
The accuracy of the “actual time” is factory checked with instrument PMX-I.

5. Checking the exposure time (continued on p. 45: “Operating instructions”)
WARNING
While performing periodic quality checks, some differences between the set exposure time and
the measured exposure time may be detected.
The differences are due to the automatic time compensation that intervenes when the power
voltage differs from the nominal one.
The x-ray control is provided with two types of accuracy measurements for the exposure time:
A. Set exposure (is the exposure time set by the operator on the x-ray control).
The max error is +100% / - 100% when the voltage fluctuation is -5% / +10%.
B. After exposure: it’s the exposure duration (automatically adjusted). It’s calculated by the
microprocessor according to the line voltage, and it’s shown on the display.

17. CLEANING THE OUTER SURFACES
Use a soft cloth dampened with water and mild soap to clean the outer surfaces of the x-ray.
DO NOT permit water or any liquid to penetrate the machine or severe electrical component damage
may occur. Damage of this nature is not covered under warranty.
For protection against cross-infection, it is recommended that barrier protection be used and replaced
for each patient.
Germicides must be selected carefully, realizing that many are not suitable for use with such plastics
that are used in manufacturing. Damage of this nature is not covered under warranty.
