MY FIRST JOB AND FIRST SALARY

I did this when I received my first salary. My father asked me

how much of it I wanted / need for the month. I said about 10% as I was living at home. So he gave
me a little more than I asked for. The same weekend, we wont shopping, and he ended up spending
my entire salary on stuff I had been wanting for my room.

You will never regret giving your first salary to your parents. Don't worry about any debts, or new
things you need or your girlfriend, these things will always be there in life. But giving your first
salary to your parents is a once in a lifetime chance. Seize the day.

Can't come up with 10 best ways, but what comes to my mind:

1. Spend on your parents.
2. I regret till moment for not investing my first year's some of the savings into the stock market...
For eg, TCS shares were trading somewhere around inr 520 in 2008-09. (don't remember exactly as
i didn't care at that moment). currently its somewhere around inr 2400 (there was i guess a split,
meaning it would be inr 4800+) Even if you don't consider the dividends regularly distributed by
company, its a huge loss of opportunity.. On the contrary, even if you had lost the money, no big
deal..i cant really figure out why my savings is too low because i cant remember the expenditures i
had made in the past 5-6 years.. so, basically, down the line, you don't care about the expenditure, u
only care about incomes.
3. if you are looking for higher education, better invest in the liquid funds like gold,short term equity
or so on, or the funds which can be used as collateral for getting education loan (for Indians, NSC is
one of them, which also has the benefit of tax savings under 80c)
4. Help someone really needy. Someone could be a junior from your college, a possible great person
who would pay you back not necessarily in monetary terms, but would be helpful to you in future..
5. The last one, spend on yourself too! Having fun is important too :)

PS: Some of the tips are not for the first salary, but its important to have the attitude to prepare for
the better future instead of just living in the present.. And that attitude can be built only with the first
salary..

I had the best feeling of my life when i got my first job and that i put as my most happiest and
memorable moment of my life. I do still remember the date and time. For a middle class family
girl getting a job is a big thing in life. After i got my offer letter from the i called my MOM first
and she was so happy with the news, that was the day when i made my parents proud. I was more
happy and satisfied that day and feeling of joblessness and insecurity gone from my mind. Those
days i was so doubtful regarding job since me and my classmates were struggling for job.
Everyone of us were trying hard but Biotechnology jobs are comparatively lesser than IT jobs.
From my childhood i was very passionate about lifescience { May be i was so poor in Maths that
i didnt have any other choice } Then came my first day at office, It was really different feeling
again. From college to company.

In college we wont have much tensions or pressure or deadline and you are totally independent
of your ways. But professional life was very different. It was more or work, meeting deadlines
and continuous learning and implementing those. There was lot to learn in professional life.
Though it took few weeks for me to get adjusted with company culture and learning the work i
need to do and mingling with my colleagues, but it was good experience. then came a day for
which all employee waits “The Salary Day”. My first salary.. Though i bought materialistic
things for my family with mhy first salary but it was real satisfaction for me and for them too. I
was then INDEPNDENT girl. Though it seem simple but these experience are great and
memorable.
