Judul:

Academic Health Center (AHC), an alternative solution in addressing healthcare system reform
challenges in Indonesia: A Medical Faculty Perspective

Latar belakang:

The healthcare system reform in Indonesia which started at 2014 has risen many challenges to be
addressed.

Regulation no. 20 year 2013 stated the aim of medical faculty is to provide the need of doctor equally
throughout the nation and took a proactive role in increasing the people health status nationwide.

Tujuan:

 Identify the possibility role of AHC in addressing healthcare system reform challenges in
Indonesia
 Identify the required adjustment for medical schools towards the establishment of AHC

Metode:

Literature search in several search engine using “Academy Health Center” and “medical faculty”
keywords

Hasil dan Pembahasan:

The triple aim approach in US healthcare reform can inspire similar approach in Indonesia’s healthcare
reform

AHC has proven provide significant contribution (eg. improve quality of healthcare delivery, produce
beneficial research findings, and reducing healthcare costs) in addressing challenges in US healthcare
reform to achieve the triple aim

Medical faculty needs to allow more room for population health subjects to be teach in their curricula.
Medical students need to learn more about ‘non-medical’ topics.

Simpulan:

AHC contribution in US healthcare reform can inspire healthcare reform in Indonesia to adopt similar
approach in AHC settings to address their challenges. Medical faculty as an integral part of AHC need to
adjust their curricula to be more aligned with the needs of the healthcare reform challenges in Indonesia
