Nurse Residency Coordinator

Children’s Hospital Colorado
13123 E 16th Ave, Aurora, CO

Dear Nurse Residency Coordinator,

I am writing to express my sincere interest in the New Graduate Nurse Residency Program at Children’s
Hospital Colorado. As a new graduate nurse, the opportunity to work in an environment that values compassion,
humility, dedication, and creativity will allow me to flourish as the high-quality nurse that I strive to be. Children’s
Hospital Colorado’s Magnet recognition and status as one of the top 10 pediatric hospitals in the nation proves
that it is an ideal workplace for a passionate and driven individual such as myself. I sincerely believe that the
success of a hospital can be measured best through patient satisfaction, and I would be honored to work in a
culture that values patients above all else, as is clearly the case at Children’s Hospital Colorado.

I am a permanent resident of Colorado and am looking forward to returning to the state that I love after
completing my baccalaureate degree at The University of Arizona. During this past summer and winter break, I
returned to Colorado and worked at the Ohana School of Early Learning in Littleton, CO as a Teacher’s Assistant.
In this position, I worked with children aged three months to five years and I found in myself an absolute passion
for working with the pediatric population. I learned how to teach, connect, and effectively communicate with
young children and their parents, and was able to see first-hand how critically important it is to serve as a positive
role model in the life of a child. I plan to translate the experience and knowledge that I gained from this
opportunity to my nursing profession by reminding myself daily to view life as a child does: with an open heart
and a creative mind. My motivation, humility, compassion, and genuine love for children and the nursing
profession will make me a valuable addition to the Nurse Residency Program at Children’s Hospital Colorado.

In my final semester at The University of Arizona, I recently completed a 5-week preceptorship in the
Intensive Care Unit at the Southern Arizona VA Hospital. Though this population is quite different from the
population being served at Children’s Hospital Colorado, the experience of providing care to critically ill veteran
patients has reinforced skills of prioritization, delegation, and maintenance of a calm demeanor and attitude in
times of high stress. I also hold current BLS and ACLS certifications as well as the IHI Basic Certificate in Quality
and Safety.

Through my nursing studies at The University of Arizona and my childcare work in Colorado, I have
found a true passion for serving the pediatric population. The opportunity to be a part of the New Graduate Nurse
Residency Program at Children’s Hospital Colorado will allow me to hone my dedication and skills to become
the best nurse that I can be, and I would love nothing more than to contribute my unique strengths and talents
with your team. I would greatly appreciate the opportunity to speak more about how my skills can benefit
Children’s Hospital Colorado. I can be reached by phone at (303)-564-4970 or by email at
Cassidyleroux@email.arizona.edu.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Sincerely,
Cassidy Leroux
