The Night of Bara’ah ( Freedom from fire )

Night between 14 and 15 Shabaan – month before

Ramzan.

God comes to lower skies and deeds of people are

presented towards him and he decides there fate rizq
and life. List of people dying coming year is published.

This night is full of mercy and forgiveness and God

forgives many people except Mushriq and Keena
parwar.

Prophet used to Fast many days of this month. When

asked he said God decides who will die in coming year
and I would like to be in fasting state when this decision
is made for me. Also said he fasts in this month in
preparation for Ramzan. He prayed long Tahajud on
this night (half shaban) asking for forgiveness and
praising lord – Hazrat Ayesha got worried when he
did’nt move from sajda for long time and thought he
passed away. Prophet PBU told her this is the night god
gives mercy and forgiveness to those who seek it.

During the night 1- Salat (Tahajjad or Nafal) at least 8

Rakaat 2- Talawat e quran 3- Dikhr – praise God ,
Astaghfar , Darood e rasool and 4- Dua for yourself
family ummah and especially ask for forgiveness.
Try to individualize your ibadaat rather celebrating
them and attending gatherings ?

It is recommended to fast next day so that we are in a

state of extra prayers and fasting while God is
reviewing our deeds and deciding upon our future.

As for the narration reported by Ibn Majah , that Ali (may

Allah be pleased with him) had said: When the middle of
Sh'aban comes, then observe additional prayers during its
night and fast during its day. It is ruled by scholars as weak.
Sheikh Al-Albani classified it as fabricated. Allah knows best.
