Autobiography

Growing up I loved my teachers in elementary school. They always encouraged me to do

my best and never let anyone influence my decisions. I had such a great personal connection

with my first and second grade teachers, which made coming to school so much better. In about

middle school I used to play pretend school. I would act as if I was really teaching children. I had

papers I handed out and would write things down. I really enjoyed it. I think that the most

important reason I wanted to become a teacher is because of my mom. She has worked with

children with disabilities/ special needs for as long as I can remember. She inspires me so much

it is crazy. The love and passion she as for her job just radiates off her all the time. She just

recently moved to an elementary emotional support room and has about seven boys in her room.

She used to be at the high school and worked one-on-one with a girl. This is where I service

learned for her main teacher in the room. I would go to gym class with them each morning and

help the children get motivated to have a great day. We would do some machines to warm up

and then move to weights or go and play brain games in the gym, or a different sport that got the

children moving. I loved going to school each day just because I got to see these children. They

looked forward to seeing me just as much as I looked forward to seeing them. I even would help

in the classroom if I had spare time and they needed some extra help. One of my favorite things

to do with the class was to go on field trips out in the community and help them learn as we did

different things. The trips would be a trip to a baseball game all the way to just walking around

town having conversations with friends and local community members. I really enjoyed
watching the children grow and learn from these experiences that I got to share with them. These

were some of the best children I have ever worked with and they really made me want a career

out of it.
