D. Lesson Proper
Based on our activity, what do you
think is our topic for today?

Nice! Do you have any idea, what Passing skills ma’am.

passing is in volleyball?

It is one of the basic skills of volleyball

Brilliant answer! ma’am.
It is really one of the basic skills of
volleyball, not only that.
Did you know that, passing is
arguably the most important skills in
volleyball?

Do you have any idea what makes

passing is the most important skills? Ma’am, it requires strategic skills to pass
the ball to the right person.

Good! Another? Mam, it also requires physical alertness

in passing the ball.

That’s why it is often said that

volleyball is a contest between the
passer and the server.
Passer require technique or skills on
how to create an opposing attack.
And require Physical alertness to
pass the ball orderly.

What do you think is the most

important characteristics of a passer?
Ma’am a passer must be timely.
Very Good!
A passer really need to be timely to
pass the ball properly and make a
score.
How about a server? What
characteristics should he/she
possess?
Mam, a server must be strategic, so that
he/she can earn a score for his/her team.
Smart answer, a server really
requires an ability to find his/her
target that cannot run an offense, for
him/her to earn a score.

Now would you like to know the

different strategic ways of passing.
Yes, ma’am.
We will talk about the different
strategic ways of passing.
1. Forehand Pass
“Bumping” when receiving the
serve, and the “Dig” when
handling an opponent’s attack.
Maintain 90-degree angle
between arms and upper body.
Ball should come off the same
spot on lower forearms (above
the wrists). From slightly
squatted and balance position.
2. Overhead Pass
The player should use overhead
passing when the ball travels
above the head. Just notice that
hard jump serves can be
impossible to use fore-arm pass.
But the over-head can do.
Action of over-head pass is to
contact the ball with the finger
pads momentarily at the forehead
and following through with arms
fully extended to the hitting
target.

Do you have any question about

those strategic ways that we have
discussed?

E. Application
Okay. Row 1 will you demonstrate
the Forearm pass.
(Row 1st are demonstrating)
Row 2 will you demonstrate the
overhead pass.
(Row 2nd are demonstrating)
Row 3 will you mention some safety
awareness that we must observe
while playing outside.
Avoid Pushing each other while receiving
the ball
F. Generalization
What have you learned today?
Types of passing, Forearm pass and
Overhead pass ma’am.
Excellent class, you really have
learned the different types of passing
skills in volleyball.

Now, let us try to find out how much

have you learned. We will have an
activity outside.
Before going outside, you must fall
in line together with your row mates,
observe silence. You’ll be evaluated
using the following criteria.

CRITERIA: EXELLENT VERYGOOD GOOD FAIR POOR

5 4 3 2 1
1 Cooperation
2 Strategic Response
3 Physical Alertness
4 Safety Awareness
5 Proper Execution
IV. Evaluation
Pass and Pass
Mechanics:
1. Group yourselves into 4.
2. Fall in line by two’s and face each other.
3. All of you are the receiver throw the ball and pass it the other member using
the forearm pass until the last member received the pass. From the last
member you’ll going to pass the ball using overhead until the ball reaches the
first member then it counts 1 point.
4. Avoid grounding the Floor. If the ball touches the ground, you’ll back from
the start.
5. First group who reaches 5 points, wins the game.

V. Assignment
