Life in a Floating Bubble

The year is 2119, and the human population is now living in the biosphere bubble

known as “HSX”. Hi, my name is North West, here to inform you about what exactly

happened to our earth and why we are living in HSX. You may remember my parents,

Kim Kardashian and Kanye West. Unfortunately everything changed once Disaster X hit

earth, and my other sisters are living in “HSX2”. A different biosphere traveling near

mine. Now let me recall the day of June 17th, 2110, when the world was changed

forever.

On June 9th, the local city broadcaster for Denver, Colorado, made a horrific

announcement. The government had made an official announcement that massive fires

were pron to start, and the natural disasters we once knew would increase dramatically.

Due to the amount of greenhouse gases in the air, less and less clouds were in the sky.

This caused the daily temperature to increase 3-7 degrees almost everyday. It hardly

ever rained, and our filters couldn’t make enough clean water. I ran back inside to our

Smart House, which was the most electronically developed house in the city. I told my

sisters the news and we all started packing incase the worst happened.

Then came June 16th, and the first fires had started in California, New York,

Texas, and South Dakota. I had the news on around the clock, hoping some good news

would come through. Then all I heard was “The Hawaiian Islands have been evacuated,

and the islands are now 5 feet underwater. The coastal areas around the world are
being moved inland as sea levels are rapidly rising, currently 6 inches every hour.” My

jaw dropped, and I knew then that there was only one way things would be okay.

Humans had to leave earth.

Then came June 17th, and the first announcement at 7am was “The states of

California, Oregon, Texas, New York and Florida have filled up HSX2. More states are

being evacuated now, everyone stay safe.” My city was being evacuated at 9am, and

my sisters were nowhere to be seen. I come to find out they had left on a plane to

Texas that night to be evacuated early, leaving me sleeping at home. As I got boarded

into HSX the smoke in the air was becoming unbearable. The fires in the distance were

eating their way to our city, getting closer and bigger every hour. As I found my cubicle,

I looked out the window to see a sea of fire engulfing whole trees. I wondered to myself,

how could things of come to this.

It has been about 9 years since the world wide evacuation onto the HSX

biosphere bubbles, and life has just been about getting by. The biospheres all stay

within 2,000 miles of each other, just floating in whatever is left from the earths

atmosphere. The animal species is little to none, and reproduction rates have been

steadily dropping since Disaster X. Scientist aren’t sure how things are going to turn out

for the human race, but one thing is for sure. The earth is beyond repair or saving, and

humanity can’t survive in floating bubbles forever. I was ashamed to say it, but

personally, I’m looking forward to our trip to Mars.
