There are two (2) teachers who are low in emotional stability.
There are nine (9) teachers who are high in compassion and five of them are
very high in compassion.
The six attributes that are found to be weak among the teachers are:
Self-confidence
Resourcefulness
Intelligence
Reliability
Emotional stability
Objectiveness
7. What interesting observations can you spot from the other data not asked?
I have observed, except for one, that their level of intelligence and level of
self-confidence are somehow directly proportional. The higher they rate in
intelligence the higher their self-confidence.

1. Why are some teachers reported to have bumped a learner’s head on the
wall or made a child swallow scratch paper or pencil filings? What attribute
do you think is low for this teacher?
I think the attributes low for such teacher is Emotional stability. Emotional
stability is the capacity to maintain ones emotional balance under stressful
circumstances. If you are emotionally stable you can tolerate minor stresses and
strains, you are able to maintain composure. But in this case the teacher seems
to be unstable person, the teacher tends to be easily provoked in anger and get
controlled by his/her emotions that he/she ends up hurting the students.
2. Why do you think some teachers are better loved by students than others?
For me, all of the personal attributes being rated in the questionnaire
must be possessed by all teachers. Because I think those twelve (12) attributes
are what defines a total developed and capable teachers.
6
After reflecting on this episode and recalling my previous subjects, I have
realized that there are several concepts in the teaching profession about personal
attributes I learned that has been affirmed and confirmed that:

Using what I have learned in this episode, when I become a teacher, I must and
should be one who is not just intelligent enough but someone with a good personality.
Teaching is more than sharing, its all about inspiring. Inspiration drives
motivation, and motivation is a powerful tool one can use to impact lives and cause
changes.

1. Observed actions of a teacher who is a progressivist:
Progressivist teacher believe that one learns by doing, she expose to many
new scientific, technological, and social developments. She let students solve
problems in the classroom.
12
To become a teacher is not easy. Teaching has many demands, your influence
as a teacher on your student and to the people with whom you work and live depends a
great deal on your philosophy of education. It has been said “Your philosophy of
education serve as your “window” to the world and “compass” in the sea of life.
13
1. Affirmed Concept 1: Your attitude towards problems and life as a whole has
underlying philosophy.
3. Affirmed Concept 3: The teacher’s plays a big role to help society- its
events, its people, and its destiny.

I should treat each student or learner fairly. I should bear in mind that no two

Areas of Focus For Observation in the My Observation
School setting
Physical setting
1. Classroom arrangement Facilities are well-arranged, tables and chairs
are in good condition, classroom is spacious,
clean, well-decorated, well-lighted and well-
ventilated.
2. Bulletin Board Located inside the classroom, cute and
artistically made, good enough to be seen by
everybody inside the classroom, written
announcements are clear and neatly posted.
3. School Playground Clean and well maintained, there are kiosks
for pupils and parents/guardians,limited
facilities
4. Learning Resource Center Located in one corner of the classroom, with
Television, DVD Player, activity books, Flip
charts
Socio-Psychological Setting
1. Class routines Class started with a prayer, singing of national
Anthem, warm-up activities (physical
exercises, singing of nursery songs), checking
of attendance, lesson discussion
2. Teacher activities Lead the prayer and the warm-up activities,
write subject matter on the board, let pupils
read a story written on the visual aid and on
the board, assists students to their personal
needs
3. Learners activities Learners participated in classroom activities
like prayer, singing the national anthem and
warm-up activities, copy lessons written on
the board in their notebooks, read story
written on the board and in flip charts
4. Co-curricular activities Learners were asked to draw and apply colors
to their drawings and do choral readings
17
Based on the teacher’s program, my observations and my interviews, I saw
teaching as not only a full time but a multi-tasking job. The teacher does not only teach
inside the classroom but he or she does things beyond his or her job description. A
teacher plays so many roles to his or her students outside and inside the classroom.
One cannot be a teacher for just an hour, a day or a year but once a teacher always a
teacher.
The teacher’s workplace is really conducive for learning. The facilities and
equipments being used as tools for learning are in good condition and healthy for the
welfare of both the learners and teachers.
I found out that the teacher and the learners have a pleasant relationship. I don’t
see any serious problems and disturbances during class discussions. Learning process
goes smoothly as expected. Learners are very participative and teacher really
considered the learners as the center of the learning process.
18
My previous learning in the content courses that were affirmed by this learning
episode are:
19
How can I improve the school setting that I have observed when I become a
teacher?
1. Classroom management:
I will see to it that Bulletin board must be displayed outside the classroom.
It must be located in aplace or area where everybody in the school can see what
is being posted on it. Bulletin board must contain important and reliable
information posted on it.
3. School playground:
4. Classroom routines:
I still do the usual way of classroom routines like starting the class with a
prayer, checking of attendance and assignments, et cetera. During the lesson
proper and discussions, I will think of effective and artistic way on how to make
my lessons interesting to students. If possible and with available resources, I will
use modern technologies as tools for learning. I will make it to the point that my
class will not be boring and ineffective.
