Your industry allocation is: Fruit Industry

You need to complete the following steps:


1- Based on your allocated industry, you are required to nominate one enterprise/brand
of your choice, currently operating in the Vietnamese marketplace.
2- Briefly describe any one innovation, of your choice, introduced by the
enterprise/brand during the past 1-3 years in the Vietnamese marketplace, allow (80-
100) words.
3- You are required to state only one personal opinion about the selected innovation
(i.e. What do you think of the innovation?). Your opinion should be expressed in a short
statement (approx. 20 words). You could be in favour, not in favour of the innovation, or
a combination of both.
4- Your two assessable tasks: You are required to defend your opinion by developing
two (2) sets of well-formulated arguments and ideas based on logical connections and
use of evidence - See CT marking Criteria on page 8 of the Learning Guide.
Your critical thinking should be based on theoretical knowledge taken from the unit’s e-
Textbook and from conducting relevant secondary research.

In compliance with my given industry, Sen company limited, established on July 4th of
2008 and one of leading enterprise of canned fruit, is dominated in this study.
In particular, the innovation this company initiated is the introduction of high quality food
products to market at the Vietnam Foodexpo 2017. During the Vietnamese food industry
event, they prepared samples of various vinegar, pickles, and fruit juices that are all
processed, packed and well-seasoned with the Korean food standards. Not only do they
care about the process, Sen Co., Ltd. also applies the Global Gap quality standard in
the cultivation and harvesting of agricultural products. To facilitate this, the company
directly owns many food processing factories and agricultural areas in Ha Nam and
Hung Yen provinces. As the main export market for Sen Company has always been
Korea, they hope to attract more potential customers to export more products with this
image of a premium quality brand
In regards to this innovation, in my opinion, it is an appropriate approach to the potential
market for Vietnam fruit and vegetable export

My first set of reasoning is that, within the country, the current trend in development of
the development for Vietnamese fruit and vegetable market is making it a thriving period
for food technology innovation.
A typical example is the Vietnam International Food Industry Exhibition (Vietnam
Foodexpo), the same event Sen Company participated. This event incorporate both the
Government policy and potential foreign investors to encourage the development of
high-quality food industry. By 2016 alone, the event has more than sixty booths of
nearly fifty Vietnamese, Italian and Japanese companies. The intention is to let these
companies mingle with each other and exchange advanced tools, technology, and
applications in agricultural and food production and processing.
For example, also in 2016, the prominent Italian suppliers of processing and innovation
for processed and preserved foods, fruits, fresh vegetables- the Turatti Group
expressed idea to cooperate with Vietnam enterprises on various machinery.
The most enthusiastic foreign investors interested in developing cooperation with
Vietnam food industry currently mostly comprise of Japanese businesses including
Japan Agricultural Machinery Production Association (JAMMA), Kanryu Company
Limited., Kuraray Juraflex, Marumasu Kikai Company Limited, Tiger Kawashima
Company Limited, and more. They introduced various models of high-tech machines,
equipment, applications but still suitable for the production and processing of Vietnam
agricultural products.
Specifically, Tiger Kawashima Company demonstrated new models of vegetables and
fruit cleaning machines during the exhibition. According to the Deputy General Director
of Tiger Kawashima, the booth attracted many Vietnamese companies wishing to do
business transactions.
The representatives of Japanese businesses at the exhibition expressed his anticipation
of the positive change in Vietnam food industry thanks to the increasing demand for
advanced machines, equipment, and technology for Vietnamese companies.
Through events like Food Expo, many other companies in fruit industry are also
showing the trend of introducing quality products. One typical case is the Moocos
Company Limited, a newcomer in Vietnam food industry, has decided to invest in
agricultural processing industry that use clean, safe, and organic agricultural products.
The company also planned to bring a wide variety of high quality fruit products but still
have high market potential to gain the domestic trusts and then export to foreign market.
