NON-ACADEMIC PROJECTS

1. Project E-Migrate - Tata Consultancy Services

Objective: To transform Emigration into a simple, transparent, orderly and humane process.
What I Learned: - Learned a lot about development.
- What problems come? How to avoid them?
- Gained a lot of Corporate experience.
What I DID: Developed a GUI (plus some backend) for registration of the emigrant.
 A JNLP based Update manager for the Software.

ACADEMIC PROJECTS

1. Socket programming. (Ongoing)

 Current Work: Developed a UDP based protocol. Multi-Threaded server. Client requests for the timestamp of a
file, which is then transmitted by the server. Used UDP connection.

 Guides: Prof. Sukumar Nandi.

 There are a lot of similar assignments and projects assigned to us for the current sem.
 Language used: Java
2. Compiler Design. (Ongoing)
 Aim: Designing and implementing a compiler for C-like languages.

 Guides: Prof. Santosh Biswas.

 Current Work: So far, we have developed a Lexical Analyzer for the C-like language, the grammar of which is
specified by the user. Same thing was designed in “lex” language also.
 Language used: C++, lex.

3. Data Backup + Synchronization Tool

 Aim: To develop software which can be used by user to select data on their machine, this will then be backed up
automatically on a central server. The software synchronizes the data on client’s machine and the server.

 Guides: Prof. Amit Awekar.

 My work: Developed a website (user can check his current backed up data). Also a GUI (client side S/W).
 Languages: Python, MySQL, HTML.

4. File/Folder-Search Utility
 Details: This software is a web-based GUI, written in Python which searches for the input string and returns the
files having similar names as string or text content inside files having similar structure.

 Guides: Prof. Santosh Biswas.

 My work: Developed search engine for searching the files and their contents (text files) present in your
system.
 Language : Python, HTML

5. Online Course Registration and Examination

 Details: To make the process of Registration and Examination of students to be conducted electronically.

 Guides: Prof Santosh Biswas, Prof. Samit Bhattacharya.

 My Work: Developed a website with the purpose of reducing the paper-work during the registration and
exams of students in any institute.
 Tools Used : HTML, PHP, MySQL, Apache server, Adobe Dreamweaver

6. R&D Automation
 Details: A web-based interface for the people of R&D section of IIT Guwahati to facilitate them by automation of
a number of their tasks. E.g. Providing easy web interface for viewing all records, Less Paper work, etc.

 Guides: Prof P.K. Das.

 My Work: Contributed in the development of a website for Research and Development Section of IIT
Guwahati keeping in mind their need for accuracy and no mistakes.
 Tools Used : Python, DB2, HTML, web2py (as full-stack framework)
7. Design of a 4-bit CPU (Hardware)
 Details: Implemented a 4-bit CPU using some IC’s including RAM, ALU (obviously) and Parallel Port.

 Guides: Prof. A. Sahu.

 My work: Designed and implemented a simple 4-bit CPU with 16 instructions, 4GPRs, 1024x4 main memory
and a micro programmed control unit.

PERSONAL INTERESTS
 Computer Gaming
o Was ranked 60 in the top DOTA players in INDIA on Garena (best known client for online
gaming) in the time span of 3 months, around August-December 2008.
o Won and sometimes stood as Runner ups in some of the tournaments of Counter Strike 1.6
around India.

 Learned playing Tabla for 4 years.

 Skillful in playing Drums also

 Can work in any environment provided with a Laptop and fast Internet Connection. 
