In line with the National Disaster Consciousness Month (NDCM) which is being

observed during the month of July of every year by virtue of EO No. 137, this office

announces the “Basic Disaster Risk Reduction and Management-Climate Change

Adaptation (DRRM-CCA) Training” for teachers. Looc Elementary motivated to conduct

SLAC sessions to increase level of awareness regarding basic disaster risk reduction and

management-climate change last July 30, 2015.

Our very enthusiastic school principal Mrs. Norma P. Sembrano started the SLAC

session by giving a simple message that directly discussing the importance of this

training. Ms. Joeuanna Marie S. Atienza is the speaker of the said session. She directly

discussed about different disasters focuses on earthquake, typhoon, tsunami, fire and one

highlight of this training is all about the causes of climate changes. Through the help of

this session, teachers become updated and unwind about these latest and new trends

issues now a day. After giving informative discussions, teachers are trigger to shared

different experiences on the given disaster risk and suggest different strategies and plans

on how to become safe if this phenomenon will occur.

One of the consensus plans agreed by all teachers is to integrate on the different

learning subject areas on what he/she had learned in this session so that both teachers and

pupils are jointly to think and realized how to address the issue regarding climate change

in a simple but meaning ways.
