Teaching With Graphic Organizers
Graphic Organizers are known to be a credible source to aid children in
reading their skills. For teaching reading, having tangible and hands on activities
are directly related to enhancing language development. That is why using graphic
organizers are highly encouraged to use because it guides the reading, helps in
understanding, visually shows the progress, and so much more. I chose the elements
in my organizers specifically for the children to be interested in and engaged in. The
“Story Tree” is a simple graphic that relates to following a long a story by watching
the story “grow” like a tree. I asked the questions I did because I wanted the
children to understand the content before using critical thinking skills. Each
element of the organizer serves a purpose for teaching reading.
