Topic: Over the last few decades, the media has promoted the image of young thin

women as being ideal. What problems has this caused? What solutions can you
suggest to this issue?
Being a powerful tool that it is, media has been considered a scapegoat for various
detrimental impacts on people. The depiction of young slim women as ideal, being one
of the consequences of the trend, has given rise to significant damage to females' self-
esteem as well as posing a threat for their health. That being said, restrictions to the
content of mass media distributions and leading world-wide campaigns to support
females, in my opinion, would be plausible mediums to halt such harmful a trend.
Under no circumstances are the repercussions of the trend to be underestimated. To
begin with, hundreds, perhaps in millions would now be suffering from low confidence
due to the "thin is ideal" perception. In other words, once those females are self-conscious
about the way they look, they feel reluctant to interact, therefore socialize with the
surroundings, as a result of which low self-esteem becomes inevitable, let alone
depression. Additionally, if they deem public appearance as crucial as the other domains
of life, utilizing specific, harmful diets such as GM would become quite conducive. There
can be little doubt that such prejudicial a type of eating habit it is that may even end up
with incurable ailments in no uncertain terms.
There appear to be two profoundly effective solutions to avert the problem. Once certain
laws are passed, firstly, more and more public media content would be written in a
cautious manner. Were it not for the fact that females observe lean body features as how
it has to be, omitting such scenes from films, music or shows, as far as i am concerned,
are to mitigate or even eradicate cognitive damages. Not only have screens sufficient
power to influence, but also large-scale campaigns are likely to be of equal importance.
It is conducive to believe that in some parts of the world in which such perception is
expanded, television is less popular, thereby being of little effect. Female ad campaigns,
therefore, could reach these destinations and still play a role of shield to unwanted
thoughts regarding physical appearance.
Promoting light-weighted women as the most attractive ones thus has far-reaching
detriments, whereby it destroys self-esteem of females along with being a driving factor
to risk their health by consuming so-called diets. The pragmatic, albeit an effort solution,
on the other hand, seem to be government support to ban such programmes or related
contents and household campaigns to help those trapped in this mindset.
