Healthy Eating Habits

Eating a healthy diet is far from simple, simply because humans are very complex beings. We may have
it in the back of our minds that we are eating to fuel our bodies, but we actually make the majority of
our food choices based on their enjoyment factor. In fact, eating is such an enjoyable experience that
we often choose to eat foods that taste very good, but that don’t make us feel very good afterward. We
also enjoy these foods so much that we eat more than our bodies actually need, which in turn makes us
fat, unhappy and depressed. Many people do not even know how great it feels to eat a healthy meal,
because they have been making bad food choices for too long.

Once you decide that learning healthy eating habits is worthwhile for you, it’s time to make some
changes to your diet. Challenge yourself to come up with some new healthy eating habits every day and
put them to good use, like drinking more water or using mustard on your sandwiches instead of mayo.
Instead of trying to cut out all the “bad” foods you currently eat, like any processed foods, sweets, soda,
candy, and other junk food, it’s much easier and safer to start by adding more healthy foods to your
diet, such as fresh fruits and vegetables, whole grains, lean meats, low-fat dairy products, nuts, and
legumes. This way, you will slowly be replacing your bad diet with a good diet and won’t be left with a
huge, gaping void where your bad foods once were. As you start filling up on healthier foods, you’ll have
an easier time letting go of some of your most coveted unhealthy foods.

We will go to the airport by taxi.

I take only 10 minutes to get to my work.

I'm going to work in a car.
There really is nothing in my life that I would like to change.
I would not like to live somewhere else.
I would not like to change jobs.
I would not like to work from home.

A trip that I will never forget

I woke up on Sunday the 2nd of May 2012, so full of excitement. It was still very early in the morning,
but all of my excitement kept me awake.
Our flight to Brisbane from Rockhampton was at 2:00pm that afternoon. It seemed to take so long.
While I was waiting, I checked I had packed everything. Being far away from home you need to
remember everything.
2:00pm came eventually. We drove to the airport, we were all very excited. I remember sitting down in
the airport and hearing “Those boarding Qf2357, please make your way through security”. I leapt out of
my seat so eager to get on the plane.
By the end of the day we were all settled in our Hotel in Brisbane. The next morning I got woke up
hearing “Come on Kiddies we are going to Los Angles, USA, get up and get ready. That morning was the
quickest I ever seen anyone get out of bed.
We got ready had breakfast, and were at the airport soon after.
When we arrived in Los Angles, we went to a cafe for breakfast; they serve huge amounts over there.
While we were there we went to Disney land for 4 days! That was so much fun. We also went to
Denny’s, their food is so yummy! I could eat it all day.
Next we flew to New York, such an amazing place, with so much history. It was very fun; we visited the
Statue of Liberty, Empire State Building, Time Square, and Central park.
For the first time in my life I saw a squirrel! It was so exciting.
After a few day’s we flew to Washington DC, where we saw the White House and Lincoln Memorial. It
was so fun.
Soon we flew to Toronto, Canada. “What a lovely place”, Mum said. We all wish we had more that 3
days here. In Toronto we went to Niagara Falls. Such an amazing site! Toronto was one of my favourites.
Our last flight in America was to Chicago. That is where Mum and Dad hired a car. We drove on the
freeway. It was quite scary, but we got used to it after awhile. In Chicago we met up with some friends
and drove Route 66 back to Los Angles.
From there we flew back home on the 3rd of June to Australia.

Recent crime

Recent horrific incidents in Southeast Baltimore have left locals reeling.

There was yesterday's news of a 12-year-old girl being robbed at gunpoint while walking into Patterson
Park Charter School at 7:30 a.m. There was Highlandtown resident Kim Leto being stabbed to death in
her home by two teenagers. There was Baltimore Sun sports editor John Fogg being robbed and brutally
assaulted in Canton.

And there is the overall frightening statistic that, in the Southeast district, robberies are up 35 percent and
violent crime up 30 percent.

While City Hall boasts that overall crime in the city is down, those that live in Patterson Park, Butchers
Hill, Highlandtown, and Canton are feeling frustrated and scared. One resident, Tracey Halvorsen, who is
the president of interactive design agency Fastspot, spoke out in a moving essay that has since gone viral.

Though Halvorsen wrote the essay to incite action from the mayor and City Hall, sometimes it is words
that speak the loudest.

My Fond Memory of Winter Vacations

Vacation is the best part of a student’s life. It offers the much-required break from the
boring lectures, early morning alarms and strict rules. My parents have always made
sure that I have a great time during my vacations and have given me numerous fond
memories to cherish. One such memory is that of my last winter vacations.

I love winters and vacations are the best part of this season. The Christmas and New
Year gush and the vacations that follow simply offer an awesome feeling. I remember
how I and my younger brother decorate the Christmas tree and prepare cup cakes with
the help of our mother. Winter vacations are a time of celebration. We also invite our
relatives to celebrate New Years’ eve. A lot of exciting activities are planned during
these vacations each year but last years’ winter vacations were all the more special. We
always longed to see snowfall and my father gave us a surprise by planning a trip to
Shimla during our winter vacations.

It was a three day trip and we were lucky that it snowed twice during those days.
Watching the snow balls falling from the sky was a spectacular sight. There was snow
all around and we just loved it. It was quite exciting for us as we saw it for the first
time. We enjoyed taking long strolls on the mall road sipping hot tomato soup and
having steamed hot momos with the spicy red chutney.

The Christ Church on the mall road was all decked up during that time and looked
marvellous. We went there to offer prayers. We also shopped a few woollen clothes and
souvenirs from the market there. It was great fun.

I cherish the days spent on our Shimla vacation and wish we go on more such outings in
the times to come. Vacations become all the more exciting when you have a loving
family.
