Title 1 :Simulate and analysis VoIP and VLAN over Local Area Network

Objective
Most of the organization now a day has Local Area Network (LAN), but they use only for data
communication even if they can also use for voice communication. Because of that they didn’t use their
network capacity fully. Our project enables them to use their network maximum capacity by
implementing VoIP.

Objective of the project are to use the network infrastructure fully, to reduce the cost by using one
network infrastructure for different communication method i.e. to show converged network.

Executive summery
The project depicts information about the basics of Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP). The information
will express what VoIP is, information about how VoIP functions, VoIP Protocols and the networking
layers that they operates under, the advantages and disadvantages of utilizing VoIP, the quality of service
(QoS) involved in VoIP, the cost of implementing VoIP as well as the equipment required to do so.

Voice over Internet Protocol can be defined as a technological tool which allows a particular individual to
make, as well as receive phone calls over the internet. VoIP uses the analog signal that a normal telephone
utilizes and converts it to a digital signal which can travel throughout the internet.

Simulation tool
We use simulation tool to show our prototype, the simulation tool we use is called packet
tracer.
Expected Result
We will simulate different VoIP phones found in different offices when they are communicating
each other over data network.

Title 2: Automated light controller with visitor counter system In JigJiga

University

Objective
Our project has one main aim, which is to reduce the cost for electric power consumption in our
campus we have so many lecture classes and halls , each lecture class at least has 6 florescent lab
and the halls have at least 12 bulbs. People left them unintentionally on even if nobody is there.

Let say we left the bulb on for 2 day per week and let’s take 50 lecture classes and 4 halls, totally
they have 348 bulbs and let say we left them on for two days. Each florescent bulbs consumes
36W.

P = 36w x 48h x 348 = 601.344KWh

In Ethiopia 1KWh is cost 0.57 ETB

That cost 601.344 x 0.57 = 342.8 ETB per month it cost around 1028.3 ETB

With our project we can save11311.3 ETB in each year.

Executive summery
This paper is “Automated light controller with visitor counter system In JigJiga University ” is a
reliable circuit that is controlling the room lights with count the number of visitors or persons
in the room. When someone enters into the room counter will be incremented and the light in the
room will be switched ON and when any one leaves or comes out of the room then the counter is
decremented. The light will be switched OFF until all the persons or visitors leave from the
room. The number of persons or visitors inside the room is displayed on the LCD display. The
microcontroller does this work. It receives the signals from the IR sensors, and this signal is
operated under the control of source code which is stored in microcontroller. Microcontroller at
mega 328 continuously monitors the Infrared sensor. When any object pass in front of the IR
sensor signal is send to the microcontroller.

diagram

We use proteus software to simulate our project.

Expected result
The result we want get from the simulation is o turn on and off the light based on the data it get
from the IR data. If the project practically implemented we are expect it to reduce the electrical
consumption.
