Students will learn about value, shadows, highlights, contrast, and shading by identifying these concepts in examples and creating 3 pieces of artwork using value. They will develop an understanding of how value relates to everyday life and artwork through daily sketchbook assignments, worksheets, discussions, and by experimenting with values in their own pieces to demonstrate symmetrical design. Their learning will be assessed through performance tasks, other evidence like notes and quizzes, and rubrics to evaluate their completed artworks.
