Not Your Granny’s Skirt!
Rnd 1- Ch 3, dc in next 2 ch, ( ch 1, sk 1 ch, dc in
If you can make a granny square you can make
this skirt! Skirt is literally made in a square or
rectangle just like a granny square, which gives
it a great asymmetric look. Then the waistband
is crocheted on the opposite side of the
foundation chain in single crochet. I originally
made this from some recycled cotton so any
light-worsted or sport weight yarn will work.

Omega’s Sinfonia Mercerized cotton
Gauge 14 sts and 24 rows in sc = 4”
Sizes 25 ( 27.5, 29.9, 32, 34, 36, 39, 41)” waist (
be sure you’re measuring your waist, not hip)
Skirt
Ch 88 ( 96, 104, 112, 120, 128, 136, 144) join
with sl st in first ch to form ring being careful
not to twist chain.
next 3 dc) around, ch 1, sk last ch, sl st in top of
beg ch-3.
Rnd 2- Ch 4, sk next 2 dc, * (3 dc, ch 1, 3 dc) in
next ch-1 sp (increase made), ( ch 1, sk next 3
dc, 3 dc in next ch-1 sp) 4 ( 5,5,6,6,7,7,8 ) times,
ch 1, ( 3 dc, ch 1, 3 dc) in next ch-1 sp ( increase
made), ( ch 1, sk next 3 dc, 3 dc in next ch-1 sp)
5 (5,6,6,7,7,8,8) times ch 1, repeat from * once
with the last 3dc group made up of 2 dc in last
ch-1 sp and sl st in the 3rd ch of beg ch-4.
Rnd 3- Sl st in next ch-1 sp, ch 3, 2 dc in same
sp.( Repeat this rnd as you would a granny
square making increases in every increase from
the previous rnd. ) (Ch 1, sk 3 dc, 3 dc in next
ch-1 sp) around being sure to make increases (
3 dc, ch 1, 3 dc) in each increase ch-1 corner.
Ch 1, sl st in top of beg ch 3
Rnd 4- Ch 4, sk next 2 dc, ( 3 dc in next ch-1 sp,
ch 1, sk next 3 dc) around making increases ( 3
dc, ch 1, 3 dc) in each increase corner ch-1 sp. 2
dc in last ch-1 sp, sl st in 3rd ch of beg ch-4.
Repeat rnds 3 and 4 until reaching desired
length.
Waistband
Working on the opposite side of the foundation
ch, join with sl st in any st and work sc in each
ch around. Join with sl st in first sc made.
Ch 1, sc in same st as join and in each st around,
join with sl st in first sc made.
Repeat until desired waistband width.
Fasten off. Weave in ends.
